Saudi Arabia attacks: Yemen’s Houthi rebels target oil facilities

The Saudi coalition has launched air strikes in Sanaa and Hodeidah in retaliation against attacks on its oil facilities. Yemen’s Houthi rebels say they hit several areas inside the Kingdom on Friday. Saudi Aramco’s Jeddah oil depot hit by Houthi attack

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have launched a series of attacks on targets in Saudi Arabia. No injuries have been reported but oil storage facilities have been damaged in a barrage of drones and at least one ballistic missile. The attacks come just days after the US sent patriot missile interceptors to Saudi following urgent requests from the kingdom. UNSC members blast Russia after Putin recognises breakaway regions

Several members of the United Nations Security Council have on Monday condemned Russia’s moves to escalate its crisis with Ukraine. The United States and Russia have sparred over the Ukraine crisis at the UN Security Council, with Washington warning of a “horrific” war should Moscow decide to invade its neighbour and Russian diplomats playing down the threat of military conflict. Burkina Faso army deposes president Kabore in military coup

Burkina Faso’s army has announced it has deposed President Roch Kabore, dissolved the government and the national assembly, and suspended the constitution, seizing control of the country after two days of unrest at army camps in the capital. The announcement, signed on Monday by Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba and read by another officer on state television, said the takeover had been carried out without violence and those detained were in a secure location. The country’s borders have also been closed, it added. Lebanon crisis: UN rapporteur says government is failing population

Lebanon’s government is failing its people, the United Nations has said. The UN special rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Olivier De Schutter, says the Lebanese government is failing its population. He spent the last two weeks assessing the government’s response to the economic crisis. De Schaffer blamed the authorities for plunging the country into poverty. The World Bank says Lebanon’s economic meltdown is one of the worst in the world. Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr reports from Beirut, Lebanon.
