Lebanon crisis: UN rapporteur says government is failing population

Lebanon’s government is failing its people, the United Nations has said.
The UN special rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Olivier De Schutter, says the Lebanese government is failing its population.
He spent the last two weeks assessing the government’s response to the economic crisis. De Schaffer blamed the authorities for plunging the country into poverty.
The World Bank says Lebanon’s economic meltdown is one of the worst in the world.
