Iran-Israel tensions could affect nuclear talks

The parties to the Iran nuclear talks are putting out conflicting messages about whether progress is being made. The eighth round of negotiations kicked off again on Monday but statements made a day later agreed on only one thing – movement is needed soon. But those efforts have been complicated by a five-day military exercise by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, aimed at Israel. Russia, Iran sign cooperation agreement days after Natanz attack

Russia and Iran’s foreign ministers have met in Tehran to sign a cooperation agreement, days after an attack on Iran’s main nuclear facility. Both ministers condemned the attack on the Natanz nuclear plant and encouraged the US to return to the 2015 nuclear deal and lift sanctions. US rejects Iran proposal for EU to help revive nuclear deal

Iran parliament moves to halt IAEA access to nuclear sites

Iran’s parliament has passed a draft motion to halt unrestricted access by the International Atomic Energy Agency to its nuclear sites. The proposed changes could allow Iran to resume uranium enrichment at levels of 20 percent. Top Iranian nuclear scientist assassinated near Tehran

Iran’s president has accused Israel of assassinating its prominent nuclear scientist. Hassan Rouhani says the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh will not slow down Tehran’s nuclear programme. Gunmen ambushed a vehicle carrying him and his bodyguards, near the capital on Friday. Iran has promised retaliation, for what the president calls an act of despair by the enemy. Fakhrizadeh later died in hospital.
