Lebanon’s Hezbollah says it fired rockets towards an Israeli army post in Shtoula, northern Israel, in response to the killing of Lebanese journalist Issam Abdallah and other civilians. The United Nations Security Council has been meeting behind closed doors on the war between Israel and Gaza. Russia and Brazil have both put forward draft resolutions to deal with the crisis. The foreign ministry has released a statement asking for all international aid for Gaza to be directed to Al Arish in the Sinai Peninsula. Hamas’s Qassam Brigades has released a video appearing to show the release of a female hostage and two children. The footage aired on Al Jazeera on Wednesday night was shot from a distance, showing the unidentified woman and the children from behind. The men, presumably Hamas fighters, are seen walking away after leaving them in an open area near a fence, which could be the frontier between Israel and Gaza. It is unclear when the video was shot. In Lebanon, fears are growing of war with Israel as hundreds of residents near the border are already sheltering or fleeing cross-border attacks. Lebanon’s population of 6 million may be “used to” war, as one Beirut resident told Al Jazeera, but the escalating conflict comes as the country is still recovering from recent economic turmoil. According to Hezbollah, three of the Lebanese Shia group’s members were killed by Israeli shelling on Monday.
