Kenya closes schools before three days of tax-hike protests

Kenya’s government has closed schools in the capital and two other areas as East Africa’s economic powerhouse on Wednesday braced for three days of demonstrations against the cost of living and tax hikes. Two rounds of protests earlier this month descended into violence when police fired tear gas canisters, and in some cases live rounds, at the crowds. Uganda school attack: Police blame armed group for killing 40 people

At least 40 people have been killed, in an attack on a school in western Uganda. It happened in Mpondweh. It’s a few kilometres from the border with Democratic Republic of Congo. The police say a dormitory was set on fire by fighters from the Allied Democratic Forces. The army says it’s pursuing the attackers to rescue those abducted. Kenya cult deaths: 400 people still unaccounted for
