United Nations Security Council reform and introducing a common currency – those were two of the proposals discussed at a meeting of the BRICS economic bloc. Foreign ministers from Brazil, Russia, India, China and hosts South Africa, are holding talks in Cape Town. BRICS nations often position themselves as an alternative to Western geopolitical dominance. The group is also looking to expand.
