US sends Patriot missile system to Poland

The US has sent its vice president, Kamala Harris, to Poland, along with a missile defence system, to reassure NATO allies. For now, the US has demurred to Ukrainian requests to establish a no-fly zone in Ukraine, instead focusing on drawing a red line at Poland. The number of US troops in Poland is in the thousands, levels not seen since the second world war. Russia sees sanctions hit with currency value drop

The United States has announced additional sanctions against Russia’s central bank. They prohibit Americans from doing any business with the bank and freeze any of its assets held in the US.
