More than 50 rockets have been launched from the direction of Gaza towards the city of Netivot, some 15km (9.3 miles) from the border. The Times of Israel and other Israeli media report it may be the largest rocket salvo in weeks. Footage posted on social media shows a building in Netivot severely damaged in the aftermath of the attack. The United States has deployed two aircraft carriers and fighter jets to the Middle East during Israel’s war on Gaza. It is reportedly moving more warships from the Arabian Gulf to the Gulf of Aden to deter Houthi attacks on the Red Sea. US military aid has allowed Israel to continue its wholesale destruction of Gaza unhindered, ensuring that Hamas’s allies are suitably intimidated and deterred from taking any military action.
