West Darfur governor killed: Rapid Support Forces denies involvement

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces has denied responsibility for the killing of the West Darfur regional governor. The army earlier said the paramilitary group had killed Khamis Abbabakr in el Geneina. Conflict in West Darfur: El-Geneina is the ‘worst place in the world’

Refugees and aid groups say the fighting in Darfur is less about the battle between the Sudanese armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces than it is an existential war between communities in the region. Sudanese struggle to get basic commodities amid conflict

Taking advantage of relative calm, many residents in Khartoum and the neighbouring city of Omdurman emerged from their homes to seek food and water, queueing at bakeries and grocery stores, after days of being trapped inside by the fighting between the army and the rapid support forces.
