Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces has denied responsibility for the killing of the West Darfur regional governor. The army earlier said the paramilitary group had killed Khamis Abbabakr in el Geneina. Taking advantage of relative calm, many residents in Khartoum and the neighbouring city of Omdurman emerged from their homes to seek food and water, queueing at bakeries and grocery stores, after days of being trapped inside by the fighting between the army and the rapid support forces. Some inspected shops or homes that had been destroyed or looted.
