West Darfur governor killed: Rapid Support Forces denies involvement

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces has denied responsibility for the killing of the West Darfur regional governor.
The army earlier said the paramilitary group had killed Khamis Abbabakr in el Geneina.

No details of his death have been reported.
Earlier Abbabakr had described the situation in the city as a ‘genocide’.
The latest conflict has reignited long-running ethnic tensions in the Darfur region.

Al Jazeera’s Zein Basravi is live in Chad’s border town of Adre — where thousands have fled violence in Western Darfur for the latest updates.
