More than 10,000 waiting to be evacuated at Kabul airport: US | Al Jazeera Breakdown

Army Major General William Taylor, with the U.S. military’s Joint Staff, told a news briefing more than 10,000 people were at Kabul airport waiting to be evacuated from Afghanistan. The Pentagon claimed it evacuated some 19,000 people in the past 24 hours. More than 70,000 people, foreigners and Afghans, have been evacuated since August 14, the day before the Taliban swept into Kabul. Taliban co-founder Mullah Baradar in Kabul for government talks

Taliban co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has arrived in Kabul for talks to hammer out a new Afghan government, nearly a week after the armed group seized the capital without resistance. And for the first time since the group’s takeover, ministry offices have reopened. There is a sense of normality resuming in Kabul, with more people in the streets. Banks remain shut in Afghanistan and people are facing difficulties due to soaring prices and the suspension of banking services. Government and private employees are facing financial issues, as they have no clue about their salaries.
