But in his first interview since his inauguration, Rodrigo Duterte told Al Jazeera the campaign against alleged criminals will go on.

Killing drug addicts doesn’t solve the problem. Drug dealers can always find new customers. You win it by answering the people’s economic grievances so they don’t have to resort to criminal activity just to put bread on the table. 20 years later, the Philippines is still going to be ravaged by drugs, but that’s ok, because you can take the intellectually lazy route by blaming it on an imaginary Chinese/American conspiracy.

He has not only helped minimize the country’s crime rate he also cleaned up and rehabilitated the environment, building new infrastructure providing more jobs for everyone. His Boracay, Manila Bay and El Nido clean ups helped inspire his people to take care of the earth and our lost bayanihan spirit has finally been revived. On our national day of protest, more people came to support rather than oppose him and many. Many more good things are happening thanks to him. It’s true, he isn’t perfect but he gets the job done. The peasants are not even wholesalers. It does nothing to cut supply. Low level peasants addicted to things like shabu, yaba, and heroin/opium are victims. Instead of educating his public, Duterte instills fear. Use the internet and learn why those drugs are so addicting. There is a CHEMICAL addiction to those drugs. Coffee, alcohol, and various food drugs(LIKE TEA) are all DRUGS. You like fruits that make you energized? DRUGS!
Now take something like cannabis. I assume you are against any drug use due to the propaganda being circulated. The thing is, something like cannabis has no chemical addiction. Cannabis, in fact, is actually more of a herbal remedy than pleasure drug. It works as both. These are facts not being discussed in a civil manner. Duterte’s regime is killing poor people in the guise of a “drug war”, simply to kill poor people.
The reality in the Philippines is that these “peasants” you called victimized those in the lowest pit of the society and they must be neutralize as soon as possible. Those victims simply knew nothing in life but sit around and do nothing to uplift their lives. They will now resort to pleasure which is drugs…get addicted and commit crimes In western world such as US…the recipients are commonly wealthy and often regard drug use as “whim” get addicted and just rehabilitate him/herself because they have money and the lifestyle there and here are completely different. Most importantly, there is no law imposing instilling fear those who break the law and they should fear it. The mere presence of 700 000 spared from the drug war simply suggest that it’s not killing the poor but helping them. Can you feel the burden to rehabilitate that many??? I’m an architecture student and to tell you that rehab centers ain’t a joke in terms of capacity…lets say maximum to 5000 …plus the staffs and personnel. where do the government get the funds???? the burden of all the administrations pass culminated in the present mes and .that’s just shows how severe the problem already…someone has to stop it.

First and foremost you know nothing of the situation within America. In some CITIES, WHOLE CITIES… it can look just like the alleys of drug ridden Philippines, but with steel buildings, and more concrete. On top of that America does not have good drug rehabilitation. Those expensive facilities you talk about are more scams than anything. You can find a good handful of videos on the subject on youtube.
The issue with rehabilitation is that the popular drugs circulating are chemically addictive. That means one can not necessarily quit cold turkey, they can die. You speak of these drug users as ignorant scum, but in reality only those who speak of hate towards their own are ignorant.
Poverty stimulates drug use, drug use is NOT the reason for poverty. Drugs did NOT start the problems for your country, but it seems the Duterte’s propaganda machine is forcing that notion.
It seems to me you are far more privileged than the peasant who falls to heavily addictive drugs. It is human nature you are speaking against, and if you were in the shoes of those you speak so negatively of.. you could easily succumb to drug use.

Decades from now, the drug problem in the Philippines is very likely to be far worse than it is now, because Duterte (and the Filipino population at large) fail to understand what’s driving the epidemic. Poverty is the culprit throughout most of the world, and the poverty rate in the Philippines is the same as Haiti, which is the poorest country in the entire western hemisphere. Killing drug addicts (who are also victims of the drug trade) while doing nothing to address the people’s economic concerns won’t solve the problem. Drug dealers can very easily find new customers.

saya saja gak abis pikir kenapa bisa, seorang jendral BNN yg sangat galak dan sangat ditakutin belum bisa dan belum buktikan utk tuntaskan pasar narkoba dan proyek pasar narkoba di negara republik indonesia sudah lengser dan sudah di gantikan masa jabatanya oleh Bapak heru. sampai sekarang ini belum ada getaran dan setruman hasil kinerja seorang jendral BNN kita. Penjara sebagai tempat para narapidana menjalani hukuman ternyata berpotensi menjadi surganya para pencandu dan bandar narkoba. Mata jimmy wijaya mendapat rekaman video amatir, bagaimana pesta narkoba di gelar dalam penjara di Rutan Salemba, Jakarta Pusat. Bahkan, dalam salah satu kamar sel terdapat audio dan lampu-lampu disko seperti tempat dugem.
jimmy wijaya menghadirkan salah satu mantan narapidana Rutan Salemba yang mengaku pernah dan sering mengonsumsi narkoba di Blok S dan menikmati disko di Blok C rutan tersebut. “Banyak narkoba, ada inex (pil ekstasi) dan sabu-sabu. Jadi ada kamar khusus kita sebutnya apotik, di blok tersebut. Sipir biasa saja, karena sudah tahu,” kata mantan napi pemakai tersebut.
Menurut mantan napi Rutan Salemba ini, narkoba di dalam lebih murah dan lebih bagus kualitasnya. Bahkan, mantan napi yang sudah lima kali bolak balik Rutan Salemba ini, tidak pernah ada sidak terkait perilaku tersebut. “Sipir sudah dikoordinasikan, jadi tidak pernah ada sidak.
