They will need to streamline things then. Non-EU trade seems to work OK.
@Doggle Bird you’re constantly misinterpreting facts to suit your narrative. Cameron may or may not personally have wanted a referendum (did you ask him by the way?), but he chose to hold one under the pressure with the sole purpose to save his own arse. It didn’t work.
Remain has warned about everything that is happening now. It’s not project fear. It’s project here.
@Doggle Bird
Some is teething problems
A good bit is bureaucracy that will remain.
Hey, this is what was voted for.
A third country, out of the EU Single Market and Customs Union.
Enjoy
@roisin malone Sounds OK to me.
@Doggle Bird
But the delusion exists re Brexiters, including yourself re your comments, that the bureaucracy/red tape can be removed.
It can’t be. This is what being a third country means.
You may be fine with it, people losing their livelihoods will not be.
@Stephen Devlin “That’s because they are used to filling out forms for non EU trade.
”
If it would be that simple 🙂 That form isn’t only a form, it means lost time and lost money. Most businesses operate on tight margins, and this ‘form’ means many businesses will file for bankruptcy.
Also, the Europeans are not interested in completing forms( they also have to do the same thing) so they will prefer to buy from outside UK.
Welcome to de brexit sir!!
That is wat brexit means, you get what you ask, Rules Brittania ?
actually they should be invaded and enslaved.
Reuzegezellig.
@Bainsworth good luck with that.
@Bainsworth meh, no need. Their lords are already working on that.
@leme My jokes are just as funny as brexshitter jokes 😛
Where on earth is Farage hiding?
Under a pile of rotten fish hopefully
This is great news. The more difficult the EU make it, the quicker our trade will move to non-EU sources and supply chains and Businesses will look to other export markets to sell in. The biggest problem was always going to be business wanting to stay with the status quo and not pushing to take advantage of other opportunities. Always the danger of signing a deal with the EU. They will adapt or die and be replaced by more flexible ones. Once our economy disentangles itself from the EU, you can kiss goodby to fishing in our waters and we will be Truly sovereign again and they can stick their deal where the sun don’t shine.
@some opinion countries always trade with their neighbors because, they are right beside you. EU never stopped you trading with other countries. In fact Truss is trying to renew all the trade deals you had already.All Brexit done is make it difficult to trade with your neighbors. EU like fresh fish and is willing to pay more for it, but yes now you can sell Frozen fish to Japan for less and cost you more to get it there. Win for Japan, EU just get there Fresh Fish somewhere else. British fishermen get less. The advantages of Brexit just keep on giving.
@some opinion The disUnited Kingdom is NOT United. On anything. Scotland and Northern Ireland voted to remain in the EU.
Please don’t confuse our countries with the English and their brexit insanity.
@Maria Lana 😂😂😎
@some opinion are you sure uk is united in its course ?? I´m not so sure. Look at Scotlan an NI …
And where are you gone sell that fish? 😂😂😂
Change is gonna happen, step one, here we go.
Ask brexiteers what EU laws they didnt like. None of them can answer without googling for it. They are brexiteers because of their bigotry and nothing else.
Correct. Britain has voted in favour of 95% of all EU legislations during 40 years of membership (against 2% and abstained 3%).
Bendy bananas.
Ironically they can all answer now, LOL
Ask them how they will benefit personally and it’s the same answer! aaaaaaaaahh ??
That’s a bit harsh. The EU is about someone from a language-A speaking area meeting someone from a language-B speaking area and they decide to pool their resources, including their knowledge of how stuff is in their respective language areas. In the case of UK it might mean some UK person meeting, say, a German person; so, what should they cooperate about to get that EU synergy? Well the German speaks German and decent English (or he wouldn’t be in business) and the UK guy speaks English. Period.
So in that situation, the UK guy doesn’t get the respect he has so richly deserved by steadfastly (bulldog spirit etc etc) refusing to learn another language (as an increasing number of UK people do) and will stomp out the room to call distant relatives who treat him with that respect. Soothing and reality-detached conversations will follow.
Hey I’ve got this really cool idea why don’t we have a common trade agreement between countries with common minimum quality standard….. sorted!
👏🏻😂
Once you open that gate, you will be back on the medieval age…
We could call the concepts ‘the union of customs ‘ and ‘the markets of singularity ‘. 👍
@Daniel Wood yes love it
That you Gordon Ramsey???
His less sweary brother?
Good luck getting any of this information on British news media.
Total denial by media and government.
The UK or little England can always become an American Colony….. lol….lol……
They’d love that..oh, wait . Trump didn’t get back in
Brexit means Brexit….. Leave means, Leave…… lol….lol……
brexit ,most stupid idea in modern history
Disruption to UK exports EU is exactly what the EU wants, make it as hard as possible for UK sellers, they are such poor losers / Bullies. Is this so called level playing field with the steep uphill slope from the UK. As for the main stream media coverage of this is highly biased as it seems to be controlled from the EU
Colin, you won. You’re a 3rd country now with respect to the EU. These are the formalities you voted for, when you left both the EU and the Customs Union.
How dim are You? It’s The EU 27’s SM & CU! The rules belong to The EU! UK surrendered any/all input! You don’t like it, go away and play somewhere else! UK is now just another 3’rd cuntry, The EU exists for the benefit of Members, Not foreigners!
Dear, the UK is no longer part of the EU and there are different regulations for outsiders. It’s no bulling, it’s british sovereignity.
to us, you are johnny foreigner. you won, get over it !! don’t be silly
And there are still bell ends aplenty who think Brexit was a big win. Laughable.
show me one of those 🔔 ends that voted leave because of trade. i look forward to the link 👍
They shouldn’t have been given the choice
Yes, afraid so, there are still millions of Boris Johnson’s Tory supporter who will never admit Brexit or Johnson’s handling of the Coronavirus was a disaster from the start. The Tory UK has wasted £ billions of tax-payers cash/debt on both, while they continue to deny the poorest but assist their wealthy donors.
@Paul Friel many are not tory supporters and just lent their vote. it doesn’t help to see Labour voters fighting each other.
Why can’t we use WTO rules?
This is a taste of WTO rules.
WTO ruleset means customs checks and tolls… the European Single Market eliminated that.
Pat Aherne “Why can’t we use WTO rules?” Because we would be even worse off. All the same paperwork plus Tarifs
Because WTO means trade barriers and duties. How can you not know this after 5 years?
The funny thing about WTO rules is they limit the control of custom checks and tolls.
So they limit the sovereignty of the UK in a way the EU rules did. The only difference is, the UK had a meaningful say in EU rules and regularly choose to harm itself, like with the block of tariffs for Chinese steel.
These rules mean no member country can do as it likes. This is just to stop a trade war like the one seen in the 1920s.
WTO Members can sue each other in court over tolls and trade blocks.
No one celebrates the WTO rules. They are the bottom standard and often old and outdated. Getting the world to agree on new rules is almost impossible. Countries like the US are sabotaging the WTO by slowing down the election of new WTO judges. And this results in WTO court cases being 15-year long nightmares.
A trade agreement, like the European Single Market, eliminated that. No custom checks, no tariffs, just a ruleset for product and production standards within the single market.
For the rest of the world is was always WTO rules by default. But the EU, as a whole, tried to score some trade agreements with other countries to circumvent the WTO ruleset.
WTO rules are only good to undercut the EU product and production standards. But this comes at a price. Freetrade is no more and products might be blocked from the EU market due to substandard product quality.
Oh you can, doubt that you know what it entails and how much more screwed you will be.
All Greeks hate the European Union for one reason: Because Europe, with Germany as its leading power, in the Greek economic crisis, exercised one of the greatest forms of violence against the people. Impoverishment. But the Greeks do not want to leave the European Union for two reasons: a) Because there is no longer the British – American financial coverage as in the years until 1989. b) Because they are afraid of Turkey’s aggression. They fear a war with the ever-expanding Muslim Turkey. If these are covered, the party that will support grexit will be a complete success.
I am sorry, but your government lied about its finances and kept living above its means to the point that each eurozone citizen had to pay around €200 for your overspending. Had we not bailed you out, you would have gone bankrupt. Choose your leaders better.
Greece fiddled the books.
Britain kicked up hell about maybe having to help Greece and the Greeks haven’t forgotten about that.
You should not have fake the financial docs to enter it to get free money. Just build a real economic
This is exactly what the UK wanted. Having been a member of the EU for 46+ years, they took it all for granted and called warnings of the consequences “project fear”. It is British exceptionalism at its finest.
I have heard of Ummerikun exceptionalism, which is horse shit, but never english exceptionalism, arent you all tattooed on your neck and speak like drunken sailors? exceptionally shit 😛
The UK wanted to be treated like a third country. Now they are, but strangely they’re not happy with the rules that apply to third countries. For businesses in EU27 countries it is sad to see a market disappear, but on the other hand, also a competitor disappears. All businesses (including those in Northern Ireland) just need to reroute their supply chain to exclude Brittain.
The industry clearly warned of this. BBC & ITN failed to report it responsibly. Channel 4 did their best. Even now the truth is suppressed. British public don’t actually understand the concept of the economy or what it takes for it to function. Basically they are thick and so are the fools they elect.
It is shocking to see it proved day in, day out isn’t it. I mean it doesn’t come as a surprise, but why prove it over and over again?
Uk a sick country
Time to screw up the deal and walk away and screw France Mick Timson ps we warned you Boris
What has France got to do with the mess the UK has made of brexit?
Chickens…..roost. 🤷🏻♂️
