Decided to live in my truck for the summer. Probably buying a house later in the year.

You could take the ferry from Washington (near Bellingham) to Alaska, explore Alaska, then take the ferry back. Most campgrounds in the lower 48 are all booked up for the summer, while the closed Canadian border has reduced the travelers who normally drive there via the AlCan Hwy, so this is a great summer to visit Alaska. I drove my van to Alaska in 2017 and then took the ferry back. Since the Canadian border is still closed, you’d have to take the ferry both ways. The ferry trip would make a good YouTube video.

I’m financially stable and have always dreamed of living in a truck. I was a truck driver last year and it just fueled my dream even more. As a truck driver I saw almost all 48 states except for the northwest. America is so beautiful and being able to tour the country without having work obligations would be amazing.

A few suggestions for security… since the back doesn’t lock from the inside you might look into putting a bell or some kind of noisemaker on the gate, so if someone were to try to open it in the middle of the night while you’re sleeping, the noise will wake you up. Or perhaps there’s someway you could tie it or put a lock on it – though it probably wouldn’t happen, if someone did try to get in, having an extra few seconds to grab that axe could make quite a difference in the outcome.
The battery is pretty cool, but it was also relatively expensive. You might be better off moving that to the front of the truck bed so it’s not such an easy target for thieves. Same with the axe.

Very simple set up – nice and minimalist, I like it.. Since you are traveling, just to travel, I take it you will be eating out more instead of making your most of your meals. Since you can’t lock the gate from inside the bed of your truck, don’t park on city streets. Also be careful when hiking in the woods/National Parks alone.

Totally cool, i love it Nate! The most important you got a place to sleep. And Jackery battery w ports & solar panel is a big plus for cooking & internet. The rest is self explanatory bathroom-in nature, shower and laundry-by a river.
I want to know how you store your food, do you have a portable mini fridge? Or you live only off of canned food or do you hunt/fish? Presuming you don’t eat out, that wouldn’t be living frugal.
I assume, you may have only gas and car maintenance expenses that you wouldn’t have living in the apt. I’m interested what are your monthly expenses in general.
Please do figure out some kind of locking device from the inside. Enjoy your truck adventure and be safe!

What’s interesting is how other rich investors are praising you, but I bet they don’t feel that way about non-rich people who just didn’t want to play the “give landlord all my money” game anymore. I’m not sure how I feel about this… on one hand, nice you’re giving positive attention to trucklife/carlife etc, but ehhhh…. also, there are easy ways to make it lock from inside or use climbing gear to make it not open

I think you may have mold growing in the ceiling of your truck. Just going off of the shot at ~6:00 that shows the ceiling. Not sure if it’s the lighting or actual mold, but something to keep your eyes out for

RV living is one thing. Living in a personal vehicle, traveling or not, is another – and does indeed implicate being homeless.
If there’s roadway/vehicle access then there’s oxygen.
Killing certain wildlife means notifying the local area game commission. Especially if the animal killed isn’t in season.
Be careful where you park and sleep in a vehicle. Some ‘cops’ think it’s ok to wake you up simply because they think you can’t be there.
It’s a bit cramped. Does the lack of headspace not bother you? I love the idea of living in a van but I’d want to be able to stand up.
As a fellow minimalist myself, I can completely comprehend the whole concept of not keeping an apartment as well as your camper truck. Wouldn’t that just be the storage locker for your stuff, in the end? Thanks for the update Nate. You’re obviously going to have to go wild, if/when you meet a lady friend!
