Zambian President Edgar Lungu conceded defeat on Monday, after a landslide election win by opposition leader and businessman Hakainde Hichilema.
Voters are angry over Lungu’s failure to tackle the ailing economy and his crackdown on dissent.
Hichilema succeeded on his sixth attempt to get the presidency.
Zambia’s youth largely backed the new president-elect, and now they expect him to ease repression and economic crisis.

This is rare to see in Africa. All incumbents rarely concede.
I’m glad my country Zambia can be a model for democracy in Africa
They have always conceded in Zambia.

I love being Zambian 😍
The problem of handing over power is common in east central and some parts of west Africa. North and southern Africa countries have matured

The new chapter for us zambians
Chapter 7
i just checked Zambia owes 3 billion to China and 9 billion to westerners why every time is always China to be blamed ?
Chinese 🇨🇳 loans are fatal if not paid is why an have slightly higher interest rate than west.
West wont take land or resources if not paid while China already owns 60% of Zambian mines and 100% of their national TV station mostly due to unpaid debt relieve.
@Abdigani Aden China is actually more linient with their debt and we owe them less. Also, it’s up to the leaders to regulate the chinese influence in Zambia and use the infrastructure they’re building here to benefit the locals the most and provide long-term revenu for the economy. Its not like thryre gonna unbulid the infrastructure even if they wanted to 😂
@Ashley Mulenga explain how they are more lenient? you just made a ridiculous statement with no explanation.
@Abdigani Aden your answer is like a joke, do some digging please !!!!!! check who owns the copper mine the most since colonial period, what is the biggest copper mining companies in Zambia who are the investors and shareholders ? what are the conditions for the government to government to get load from west countries why they choose Chinese loan instead

Judgement is coming. The end is here! If you still sin you aren’t saved. You must repent and surrender your life to Jesus and separate yourself from those who still sin that are in darkness. Judgement is coming! Repent and sin no more!
