At least six Palestinian prisoners have escaped from a high-security prison in Israel.
They appeared to have used a tunnel under the Gilboa prison – just north of the occupied West Bank.
Such breakouts are extremely rare.
One of those who managed to escape is Zakaria Zubeidi, a high-profile figure in Fatah’s armed wing.
Palestinians and supporters of the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation celebrated the news, with many hailing the escapees as “heroes.”
