Guinea’s military rulers have barred government officials from leaving the country.
Coup leader Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya summoned cabinet ministers and told them to hand over their passports and official vehicles.
The former French Foreign Legion officer led a military unit that removed President Alpha Conde on Sunday.
Later, he announced that the constitution was declared invalid and that the country’s borders were closed.

Unfortunately, the usual comments any so-called expert is usually a negative one. The EU, AU and international communities only condemn the coup without looking at the poverty the ousted president enleshed on his people. Iam always surprised to hear such comments. This makes me believe these groups and persons actually do not mean well for the suffering masses. Very, very sad. No one wants an authoritarian regime but what brought about it? If more people were killed under Conde, the same commentators would have said worst things. Now that he is taken out of the way, negative things are said. Conde rigged the people out by a constitutional change!!

The new junta need to social distance. Just a bit. On a more serious note, next up will be calls to return to a democratic framework, like that option always works. They should call in management consultants to run the country cos neither the military nor politicians will get the job done.
The problem in Africa is that whenever there is a chance for chance, as is the case now in Guinea everyone demands that the military return the country back to “a democratic system”. Here’s my question… who ever said democracy is THE system to end all systems? Maybe what African militaries need to do is return African to a system of leadership that is grounded in AFRICAN principles not borrowed, foreign ideals which have been proved countless times now to be untenable on the continent.

Most African dictators are in power to hold Africans demands at bay, so the west and China can exploit the land; these newbies will not be different.
