I’m not a pessimist, but I really didn’t have much faith in a successful launch. I’m still extremely skeptical about its overall success as a working instrument given the history of its development. It appears to have been fraught with problems of management that may have placed a lot of goblins in it yet to be exposed. The cost overruns and delay of its completion raise a flag as high as its orbit.
Trust me, they wouldn’t launch it if they still had issues to work out. Part of the delay was due to COVID as well. I’m sure the Hubble faced many delays before it eventually launched too. 🤷🏻♂️ I’m excited to see what this amazing piece of tech can deliver!

Alot of technology developed for space is actually used in everyday practices. For example, the mirrors on this telescope had to be perfectly straight. The engineers had to invent a new type of surface measuring device to ensure the most accurate measurements. Now this technology is being used by optometrist and eye specialists around the world. The wiring for braces is also from some of the materials engineered by space agencies. I could go on and on but your probably don’t care lol.

If not for NASA ineptitude, this project would have been launched more than five years ago. This is the organization you want to get a bigger budget?
