Schools in many countries in southern Africa went back to full-time classes on Monday – after nearly two years of blended learning.
But in Zimbabwe, some teachers failed to show up for work.

Who can show up to get a salary of US$85/month?
@Ernesto Che Guevara I’m laughing at him. The original comment is trying to make Zimbabwe salary seem like trash for teachers .
Cost of living is also dirt cheap (rent, food, clothes). You’ll find a lot of people in that part of the world that can afford employees but struggle to afford the internet.
@and is the in for it but so that currency equivalency falls several times a day
@Facts over Fear so do you think that’s a fair salary mate?
@Mzee I simply think you made up some numbers and got fact checked lol 😂
Zimbabwe has only 5300 Covid deaths in total to date. Job well done ✌️
You call 5300 deaths a job well done,?? Seriously???. Meanwhile tens of thousands of kid’s have no school teachers……….. and you have nothing to say??????? Eeeeeish sure ********* !!
@Mzee Can that question be asked with any seriousness when numbers elsewhere; like in the US are not readily verifiable?
@Vespa That is what both India and Japan observed with regards to the low infection rate on the continent from the virus.
They have a much younger population.
@Jacob Lee All of Africa has a massive population. Yes the young. And plenty of old also. And the old are not being affected either like other countries . African countries have simply done a wonderful job as nobody gives them any credit. Only excuse after excuse. That’s western thinking 💡
Policeman earn $200.00USD per month….Teachers earn $120.00USD…..Farm Labourers earn $2.00 per full working day. These are Facts. I Live Here.
With that name, the flawless writing, and the conversion to USD, I somehow doubt that.
@American Infidel are you mixing up Rhodesia and Angola?
@American Infidel Zimbabwe wasn’t part of any of that
Sos Colombia
What is education anyway? Don’t waste children’s time. Cell mass gravity zuulugy witchcraft 7b x 5x volume of a square ⬛ triangle 🔺️. Who cares.
That’s an odd thing to write. Implying literacy.
*my brothers my sister s alsalam waealaykum warahmat allah wabarakatuh we are the orphan children of your sister from Yemen. My father died in 2015 and my mother suffers from a stroke and needs care, and my brothers are young and unable to work and live in compelling circumstances that human beings cannot afford to evict us because of the delay in paying the rent for 6 months and The house is empty of anything that will fill our stomachs and my brothers are young. They are unable to work. He who satisfies the stomachs of orphans helps us and looks at us with mercy. My brothers, I am unable to provide for them until we eat for them, and I cannot provide for them anything. A wise son is the joy of a father,
and a foolish son is a mather’s grief.
Why no whites are allowed to school?
I think that the teachers were already under tremendous strain due to low wages and poor working conditions, and covid was the straw that broke the camel’s back as the saying goes.
Someone at the Education Ministry ought to get fired
Another country under usa sanctions
Parents of these pupils are paying school fees. Where is the money for school fees being spent on?
ZANU pf just needs to get out of power my advice is to get guns and defend yourselves otherwise ZANU will rule forever be brave Zimbabwe
Big move. I hope the teachers get what they say they need for their professional development and students. All 3 years in highschool we had teachers strikes AND student strikes; our school was overpopulated by hundreds and was infested with rats, black mould that kept pregnant teachers trapped out, and all built with asbestos, all on top of low wages. It’s worth having to play some educational catch up if it means that you and future generations of both teachers and students will benefit from the strikes done now. Standards are at breaking point.
Where was this school may I ask??
do their girls shave their heads? Whats wrong with these people?
and whats wrong with shaving head?
@davis mate I totally agree with you.
Ignorance is not an excuse for being stupid.
Girls shave their heads…, Get their hair done ..keep it short , long or bold….
why are their girls bald?
schools in Zimbabwe forced every student to have short hair or bald from primary school to high. Otherwise you not permitted to attend school.
@yy chit why do the parents tolerate such a stupid policy?
why do these africans hate hair on their head?
Is it so strange for you to see that? You seem fixated on that.
@Chichi probably trolling
@Chichi yes I caught myself in pants zipper once and it was third worst experience of my life
@Chichi its extremely strange and disturbing
@Chichi hair is a woman’s femininity, to shave off her head is like taking away her identity
-.- rural areas will be slowed
This is so shocking and scary. I can’t believe humans live like them. Prayers!
Believe it
Paying billions to white farmers but cannot put money in education to train future leaders.
As we talk,Zimbabwe government has a contract with Zepra based at the Harare Showgrounds and has enough money to buy 5 000 000 chickens for vote buying but failing to pay trs,gvt will buy chicken Inn for rallies and has budgeted for that and had enough to pay MWONZORA and itself for election campaign, gvt has enough as we talk to buy Fertilise in puts used in VOTE BUYING but has no money to pay for trs
