I don’t see how this can end well for Putin. The only chance for him was to break down Ukrainian morale and have the ukrainian army redound on their own people and government. This would make it possible for russian to push Ukraine into this kind of state like Belarus. But as we can see the opposition is to hard, the moral is very high and I can’t imagine more anti-russian army now then the ukrainian. Putin in order to keep Ukraine would need an enormous amount of soldiers, military resources to control such a large hostile nation and territory. Ukrainians would definitely fight back as a partisans. Its just does not make sense, you can’t break a unified and determined 40 milion nation. Now the sanctions will strike, all the russians elite and oligarchs will be persona non grata in the eastern world. Russia will be isolated like Iran or North Korea. Now all the pro-russian persons and politicians in UE will be totally discredited. We here in Poland and other middle european states will support Ukraine with military equipment and humanitarian support. This is already taking place here in Poland, we are all very supportive for Ukraine and ukrainians, because many of them are living here. Putin made a large mistake.
