Now they’re attacking the capital Kiev.

As long as the Ukrainian government does not fall, even if it has to retreat to western edge of Ukraine, it can continue fighting especially with constant supply of weapons and aid from the West. Ukrainian forces must remain a viable fighting force and retain the ability to fight by tactical retreats in the face of a superior force.
The West must support the resistance and even organize a “Ukrainian Foreign Legion” composed of soldiers from the West. That is how the West can fight without themselves fighting.
The Ukrainians will willingly die fighting for their country. They just need support.
The longer this fight goes on the weaker Russia will become and ultimately they will lose a protracted war.
With the sanctions imposed by the West, the time will be even shorter.
You don’t defeat Russia by invading her. There is no need.
You defeat Russia by luring her out to come to a foreign country.
