A Boeing 737-800 with 132 people on board was 90 minutes into its flight from Kunming to Guangzhou when it suddenly went into a steep nose dive, plunging 21,000 feet in just over a minute. Boeing says it’s working with China Eastern Airlines and investigators.

After them don’t make any ting good kmt
Let’s hope the find the black box…. I’ve heard of black boxes not surviving the crash.
They found one today. Taking it to Beijing for analysis. May be able to recover the second.
737s must go
Really? Statistically one of the safest planes that’s ever flown.
Literally all the 737NG Crashes were either Pilot Error or Shot down Aka Ukraine Intl Airlines. So if you want to get into stats and facts we can. Before you say the 737 is the problem let the investigation start and stop blaming the plane
The 737 series is one of the safest airliners in the world, this plane is not 737 max but an earlier version with a good safety record. Vast majority of crashes I to mountains are pilot error, so are you saying pilots must go?
my guess is the pilot purposely crashed it. For a moment the co-pilot may have wrestled the control away to level the plane but the captain took back control and crashed it.
@li li li exactly!! Very disrespectful
@James Davis we all saw it. Don’t assume until the truth is out.
@knoahbody69 this is older model doesn’t have the mcas system
@Fatjuicycoochlips1 purpose. You the type to see someone shoot someone and be like maybe he didn’t mean to pull the trigger
@eton xu what?
Another one bites the dust. The 737 was junk when it first flew. Instead of re-designing an obvious aerodynamic flaw Boeing added electronics to compensate. Because profit rules American aviation they keep using this failure of flight. These are the same firms selling obsolete aircraft to our military like the “stealth” bomber little Serbia dropped like a duck, apologizing for not knowing it was invisible. It would be great if the U.S. prosecuted criminals like the Boeing board members and threw them in prison with other conspiracy profiteers
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
^^^^^^^^
Russian oligarchs must be on China airplane
737 airframe is 50 years old. Why are they still making them at all is the question.
The wheel was invented in prehistoric times we still use it today. Old doesn’t always mean bad or obsolete.
Because it’s statistically one of the safest planes ever built.
Because it works? Paper was invented thousands of years ago and we still use it in an age of digital computers.
737-MAX end of discussion
@Mister Durden technological error not fuselage error
Try again bud
Blame China or Russia, shut down by a missile
Where are the engines? Disintegrated? Buried? Disappeared? NO SCORCHED EARTH? Fake story.
But why?
You answered your own question. Disintegrated on impact with flames burning the rest. Look at other crash sites where the plane flew into terrain. None have “scorched earth” because this is reality, not Hollywood.
def a murder-suicide. no modern plane just falls out the sky, the max you can argue but boeing in their right minds won’t let something as careless as that happen again. whatever it was I am 99% sure boeing has nothing to do with it.
Another Boeing crash, what’s new. Stop buying from Boeing there planes is nothing more then flying coffins.
@Squealing Bagpipes i m sure 737 max is not boeing fault too.
@Cherubim Cherubim no that was boeing’s fault, the max, but this is not the max and in fact the 800 is one of the safest planes ever built, this this human error
@Squealing Bagpipes how u know 800 is not fraud. Boeing Charged with 737 Max Fraud Conspiracy and Agrees to Pay over $2.5 Billion
@Cherubim Cherubim how do I know? because that model 737 has been flying since 1997 and has one of the most flawless safety records
@Squealing Bagpipes i will not get into any boeing flying coffin any time soon.
I think that either one of the pilots attempted to crash the plane and pushed the yoke forward. Maybe the other pilot had trouble returning to the cockpit since it was nose down. the other pilot could’ve wrestled the controls and pull the plane out the nosedive but the other pilot continued to push forward into an uncontrolled dive
the aircraft plunged 20000 in about a minute, which equal to about 200 knots, an aircraft plunged straight down like that would be much faster if no air brakes and flaps. Which mean airbrakes and flaps were engaged during plunging down. Do you think the pilot would engage airbrake and flaps if he attempted? No, i dont think so.
@Dat Nguyen the plane lost around 20000 feet in a minute. The plane was almost in a vertical dive. Regardless if the speed brakes were deployed they would be able to slow a plane to 200 knots that is descending rapidly. Unless somehow the plane lost all controls then the dive could’ve been easily recovered. The reason I strongly believe it’s a murder suicide is because it descended again even after it regained control. That just doesn’t make sense
@UCNpiepOh6abdWZMHa5vrXxg possibly. But china eastern hasn’t had a deadly crash like this since 2004. If this airline was known for bad maintenance, surely there would have been a couple fatal or non-fatal crashes in between that time period
@cwa45 There are many other possibilities. Everything right now is speculation
@Day Dreamer true
Ground all boeing killing machines!
if you watched the video, you would know this was not boeing’s fault
o my.. the stage of horror keeps growing… who and what can anyone believe in?
Can’t blame a manufacturer for failure until the service records are investigated
The manufacturer will be helping the CAAC and the airline understand how the plane works and what the possibilities are, whether human or mechanical.
@1bi001 way too early to tell, way too early to even speculate
@superchan7 Obviously
@Neal Z Exactly
@Neal Z “way too early to even speculate” Where do you think we are?
So Sad!! Gracious condolences to all !!!
How absolutely horrific for the 132 souls onboard. They must have been terrified. My heart breaks for families left behind. LetMs pray for them. 💕
Worse than horror movie fell of the sky from 30000 feet
My brother was on that plane to college
Made in America
but ran by communist’s
And piloted by either a Suicidal airline captain or some terrorist!
Pilot error
Educate yourself
It’s not a MAX so Communist China can’t blame Boeing for it, can’t only blame it’s no-skill pilot
All people should stop flying with Boeing 737 now.
Did you even watch the story? Looks like pilot error rather then the 737 itself, one of the safest planes out there this version. Was an 800 series or NG series, virtually all accidents on N 800 series have been pilot error not fault of the plane.
@Tokyo Channel really, how can you jump to such a conclusion? It is NOT the first time Boeing 737 raised accidents.
@Laha Ale How can you jump to your conclusion? I came to my conclusion based in facts and evidence. This is a 737-800 not a 737Max which had issues. Just because they are both 737 does not mean they are the same, its like saying an iPhone 1 is the same as an iPhone 12, both are iphones yes, made by apple yes, but different phones, same for the 737-800. The 737-800 has been flying since 1997 and has an extremely high safety record, roughly equal to its competator the Airbus A320. Fact is per one million take offs the safety record of the 737-800 is higher then most airliners, with nearly 5000 737-800 flying every day since 1997, its record shows its a safe aircraft. Thats how I jump to my conclusion. One based on fact not fear because the plane is a Boeing or 737 series.
@Laha Ale you jumped to a conclusion
Way to be a hypocrite
I will never fly Boeing again
Boeing wasnt the problem in this case
Well I guess you won’t be doing much flying! 😜
@Music Man Literally😂
What really bothers me is that among Guangzhou (CAN) any other ATCs in the area, not sure of China’s airspace control mechanism, but nobody has disclosed receiving a distress signal. Leads one to fear the worst.
Intentional for a family insurance payout. Pilots die their families get millions.
It got Hijacked China finally got the terrorist they’ve been freaking out over!
It looked like pilot suicide to me
1,000,000,000 – 132 = 999,999,868
I think it’s now 1.3B
Sadly When things go wrong there is no escape for these big plane
Boeing 737 is a flying coffin no nation should fly this junk plane.
737 is one of the safest planes in the world! There are more 737s out there than any other plane in the world. To this day the low nunber of crashes the 737 has had is mainly die to Pilot Error. In fact dont go so far because if you want to say lets blame the 737 lets blame the A320 for crashing into the trees on its demo flight… dont talk about that right even tho it was pilot error?
Check your facts, the 737 is one of the safest planes in the world with millions of flight hours, this version the 737-800 has a very safe flying record with almost all crashes due to pilot error.
@Kevinsoto1502 You’re one of the same people blamed on pilot error not the plane fault design for last two crashed in Indonesia & Africa.
@Tokyo Channel You’re one of the same people blamed on pilot error not the plane fault design for last two crashed in Indonesia & Africa.
@kevin the great because it was pilot error 💀💀
You can see that it split in half during that nose dive
I couldn’t tell from the video, but if it did break up in-flight, it was probably approaching the sound barrier 🙁
Suicidal. Mental health is important.
I messaged American Airlines and told them to cancel my upcoming flight if any of the planes i need to board is a 737 regardless what model and or when built. It appears the gov.mega corps like Boeing, Bayer, Monsanto forces USA into total obliteration. Why do the mass allow this?
Doesn’t look like a typical plane crash to me. Something’s fishy.
Lester Holt will say anything for clout. Smdh
Clearly suicide, how does any plane go straight down like that head first? Shouldn’t it glide for a safe landing? Doesn’t take a rocket scientist. Just saying 🤷🏾♂️
Just hard to trust Boeing any more!!!
Even when its obvious that it was not even the planes fault?
Just hard to trust people named Jane any more!!
This was no accident
China is to blame. Incompetent.
It feels like pilot suicide or terrorist. I pray for the victims 🙁
We need a better and safer transportation 🐁
A railway around the world 🐁
Terrorist
The blackbox should be connected to enough cameras that record the whole plane too 🐁
A Boeing 767 crashed in Texas about 3 years ago, also a steep nose dive. It was deemed pilot error. Maybe the same here?
Seems like a very different situation, since that plane was on final landing approach, while this one was at cruising altitude.
That was the Amazon plane; different chain of events. In that flight, the FO mistakenly thought the plane was stalling and put the plane into a single, consistent dive.
This is a loss of pitch authority; something in the stabilizer or the elevator partially failed; the pilots managed to squeeze a limited amount of function out of it, leveled out, and then it failed completely and went into a second dive.
looks like some kind of mal function of some sort
Look into similar nose dive issue with the 737 max. Had to do with the MCAS system.
@Andrew Parker MCAS only introduce in the MAX
Got doc out there on how 737 max kept flying with issues leading to another crash. I fear the 737 800 will not be grounded to discover the issue – unless there is another crash. I would not fly the 737 800 right now.
There are nearly 5000 737-800’s flying around the world, at every minute of every hour of everyday and have been since 1997. Most 737-800 accidents have been due to pilot error.
This has literally nothing to do with a 737 lmao
Alaska Flight 261 went down in a similar manner. That was caused by a jammed stabilizer, due to improper, lacking jackscrew maintenance.
😮😮😮
Why 737 again
it was most human error
@Squealing Bagpipes more likely intentional either pilots or over powered by terrorists.
lol what if Russia has a device that targets planes
strange isn’t it? Norway this week, Hungary last week and now China. i think the west and china should see what can be done.
Crash site shows no sign of fire … lots to question here …
@Tartersauce101 over your head i guess … did you see anything burnt lol 😆
@John Observe …yes. there is lots of footage of it
@Tartersauce101 lol move along bot
@Tartersauce101 if this is true link just one video showing anything burnt near the crash site!
@John Observe
https://youtu.be/KR-5r1Jf7tA
https://youtu.be/x_xN_9Rm6hk
Are you ok? I think you should see a therapist or something.
WHERR ARE THE BODIES?
200 knots into the ground with a huge metal explosion and fire makes soft tissue disappear pretty easily.
Lotta “plane crashes” lately. Only so many different ways to lie before people figure things out.
This is why I wouldn’t travel on anything smaller than a 767/A330 in any place but North America, Australia, and Europe.
I see…only in the westernized countries huh? Now we know what type of person you are.
What an incredibly ignorant statement. The plane was made by Boeing! I’ve flown literally hundreds of times, and all over the world (but not Australia). I have felt a safe in ASIA as I did in NA. Cathay Pacific is one of the world’s safest airlines. I flew Chinese Eastern Airlines often.
We don’t know the cause, but racial profiling is just stupid. Accidents happen all over the world. We just pray for the best. Send prayers to the families who are suffering
Your statement makes no sense. What makes a 767 or A330 “safer” then a 737, when the 737, especially the 737-800 is one of the most flown aircraft in the world, with nearly 5000 aircraft in the skies at every minute of every hour of everyday. The plane has been flying since 1997 with most accidents related to pilot error. In fact, the 767 and A330 have slightly higher accident percentages then a 737-800 in the 737 NG family. Boeing 737NG series with 0.08 fatal crashes per one million departures (PMD), the Boeing 767 (0.10), and the Airbus A330 (0.19). You can see the 737 has fewer fatal crashes per one million departures. All of these aircraft are extremely safe to fly on.
Blah, blah, blah. My statement is backed up by numerous examples over the last 25 yrs so get over it.
@yortko1 Don’t cry snowflake. Examples of racism has been going on for millennia
Here we go. My deepest condolences to the families and I am very sorry to say this because I won’t go around the bushes but here was not accident. Just in a time when Russia need China’s help to continue the war and China need a reason to justify his possible support to Russia so then they could even tell that NATO target that flight.
அவர்களுக்கும், அவர்களின் குடும்பங்களுக்கும் ஆழ்ந்த
அனுதாபங்கள்.RIP.(Tamil).
Wow so many aviation experts in this comment section………
Boeing’s crashes are mysteriously nose down dive, with pilots seemingly cannot cope with the failures.
The way the 737 suddenly nosedived makes one instantly think of the possibility of pilot suicide.
Pilot got tired of living?
Cheap american companies
@Flying Dutchman yet here you are on an American company invention lmao sit down
No
Boeing 737 are garbage
All control lost
Stabilizer?????
Another Boeing airplane involved. Something is not right with this company
Can’t blame the manufacturer for something a pilot did
Boeing 737 should be banned all over the world, it’s a ghost to take lifies.
There have been a few fatal crashes of 737 older models as a result of the malfunctioning of the vertical stabilizer (Rudder), back in the 1990s in the North Carolina US & the country of Colombia, but not on 737-800 models.
United Flight 585 & US Air Flight 427
One incident near-crash was near Denver Colorado in the early 1990s, but with the heroic efforts of its flight crew, it survived the crash, investigation revealed malfunctioning of the vertical stabilizer.
737- 300 model pilots have reported many times, the malfunctioning of vertical stabilizers.
Boeing made some changes to the designs of vertical stabilizers (Rudders) on 300 – 500 models.
The interesting fact with another plane crash in the US;
US Air Flight 427 on
Date: Sept. 8, 1994
Type and Model: 737 – 200
Facilities: 132
Cause of crash: The malfunctioning of the vertical stabilizer (Rudder)
Unfortunately flight 427 in Al Quippa County the stabilizer jammed at only 5500 feet in the air 6 miles from the runway And to make matters worse they stalled the plane in a dive it was all over at that point, If it had been 28,000 feet had it happen more than likely they could’ve restarted the engines perhaps? Interesting…
For those who use this opportunity to continue bashing China: you are disgusting.
I’m wondering how much information the black box will provide after going vertical into the ground it over 300 miles an hour?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA…………………
SPLAT
This Boeing thing again
Why they don’t bond these boeing
Y so many plane crashes in Asia smh weird
Kamikazi dive. No doubt, the pilot was suicidal. Need to do more psychological test of all their pilots and also any family/ financial troubles at home.
Planes don’t crash like that with a perfect nose dive, it was intentional.
You’re joking, right
@Spencer Kelly you realize suicidal pilots have done this in the past right
Why do pilots have all the control
because they are human and the plane is not
Because they’re the ones flying it?
Is there any comparison between this and the bus that ran into the river a little over a year ago?
This is why I don’t fly anywhere
just don’t fly airlines ran by communist’s
Watch a car crash compilation or a train derailment video
Finna say the same thing?
China’s trying to secure the market in East Asia for COMAC
Sabotage??????
This is absolutely disgusting. I recommend commenters watch the netflix documentary on boeing. I don’t think its a coincidence that this exact aircraft was grounded after MULTIPLE CRASHES. Its insane that none of our media is reporting on those past crashes and the coincidence of this one. Is there any honest journalism left?
Wouldn’t the pilot have to overwrite all the safe guards to have even a chance of this happening?
Boycott Boeing
why
Please stick and hold to the bottom line of human nature for the Ukrainian people! im begging u XI jin ping please do not help Russia killed Ukraine people!
Read the room bud
Wrong video for that
why capitan do not call ground Tower?
They did, I saw the video
The damp woolen algorithmically man because okra superficially count amongst a panoramic slice. spotless, impolite dust
Boeing company 👎
Pilot error
RIP😭😭😢
The Boeing 737 is a 57-year-old design (based on the 707) beset by rudder (1990s) and horizontal-stabiliser problems (‘Max’ version). I hope it is the final death knell for this geriatric plane, of which 10,926 have been built. Airbuses have modern designs and are my preferred equipment for short haul. Boeing’s wide-bodies — 777 & 787 — are much newer and safer.
The China crash is a carbon-copy of the SilkAir 185 disaster in 1997 over Sumatra. The NTSB tried to blame pilot suicide (unproven) to protect the brand but relatives won in LA court against the rudder-servo actuator manufacturer. A faulty part caused an uncommanded hard-over rudder in cruise, spinning the plane downwards, from which the pilots could not recover. Regulators cannot be trusted; passengers have to do their own research.
I wonder if it was attacked by the US, because the US and China are in conflict right now. Or, maybe Taiwan attacked it. Those are the only two countries that hate China.
I wonder if anybody was on board that the govt wanted to get rid of
I’ve heard those words before “it is safe” then I watched what Boeing is about don’t trust that for a minute
So sad 😞
May have been a B word
This was a case of CFIT (Controlled Flight Into Terrain). The plane was intact and there was no effort made to reduce power or lower the landing gear or flaps to reduce speed. 🙄
This guy pronounced ‘Guangzhou’, wrong.
Throw china out from UNO China is barbaric and imperialist country
