Thousands of soldiers from both countries are taking part in the week-long drills.

It’s a no brainer for US to involved in the west Ph since its not part of their territory. The MDT(mutual defence treaty) between US-Ph only activates when there’s a shooting incident happened between ph-china.

With regards to Taiwan, I think the first step would be for the United Nations to recognise it as a Country. Going to war for a country you don’t recognise seems like a over reaction. 🤔

I’m so glad people’s tax dollars are being wasted on military training because as we’ve seen in Ukraine, civilians who paid taxes are getting slaughtered while Zelensky has protection. During war times, everybody is on their own. So, these cute drills won’t matter.
Philippines has not been free since god knows when, it went from colony to occupation and is to date one of the poorest countries in the region and “coincidentally” the one being used to provide the UN with pawns and now to antagonize China. I guess decent wages, humanitarian aid and ending Western sickos who literally travel there to abuse children was not a priority to Washington 🙃

I’m Filipino and I support Joint US-PH Military drills (Balikatan) and Joint PH-US Bases (under EDCA) majority of Filipinos almost 90 % are Pro American there are almost 5 Million Filipinos and Filipino Americans living in United States and there’s a huge American presence in PH (Expats,Vets,Military Personnel, FilAms) there’s only a small portion of Filipinos who doesn’t like U.S mostly are sponsored by Communist Wing and heavily influenced by PRC Government like those Online News Writers (whom I wouldn’t name) who gives China Positive image even tho PLA Navy and Coast guards been harassing our Local Fishermen and Coast Guards.
