Nuclear technology is not high tech, much lower-tech than fusion or semiconductor, if a country wants it, it will get it.
This is completely ignorant of the immense logistical and technological difficulty with procuring and refining radioactive isotopes – access to radioactive materials is extremely limited and refining them requires highly specialist national infrastructure that not many countries can afford to build and maintain – then you also have to train technically competent engineers and hope that they don’t Chernobyl up your country
Let’s be real, if it was that easy then Iran would have nukes by now and South Africa would still have theirs, instead maintaining the stockpile was so unbelievably expensive that they decommissioned the whole lot of them

What if US disband their nuclear programme as well then, show some good faith. Why should US be the only country allowed to have them and nobody else? We all know what would happen, US would invade North korea the day they disbanded their nuclears.
