I wish we would have facilities like these in the US just in case became nessary. Finland is showing some love and care to its citizens.

Oh, they exist – but they are for certain citizens, and if you don’t know where they are, you’re not included. Frankly, it would be cost prohibitive to protect 300 million people.

The capacity of Helsinki shelter-complex is 900 000 people. Almost twice the city’s population. Each person is allocated a place – so not only 6000 of the elite – which by the way is nonexistent. The shelter-space is allocated according to one’s address – not social standing.

Finland is now 5th time world happiest country , and Finns are not liking about that image so this joining Nato is way to fix thing and get rid of top position in the happiest country list.

Но объективно блок НАТО недружественный по отношению к России. Поэтому решение Финляндии и Швеции войти в этот блок как минимум ухудшит отношения между нами.

@craigr306 We have civil defense shelters for 4.4 million people in the country. We don’t all live in Helsinki anyway.
@moi also military has some shelters so pretty much everyone is covered in case of war.

In case of any nuclear attack from RU nobody will have time to get there. They are simply to close.
The initial blast isn’t that big of an problem as the fallout is, you have plenty time to get in to the shelter since it takes about 1-2 hours before it comes down. Also they work as general shelters, not just nuclear shelters
Be serious please , some novichok in those confined spaces vents or cholera into the water supply ,thermosbaric weapons ,or even flooding through the numerous lake waters of Finland will render those places useless . Or the Russian can simply them as prisons by guarding the entrances and exits ! Any way Russia has far more sophisticated and nearly outwardly underground network!
