Dear me..tell me they are not trying to blame the decline in the steel industry on Brexit. It has been in decline since its peak in the mid 70’s. In fact it has steadily declined since we joined the EU. When SSI went bankrupt in 2015 due to China dumping steel into the EU below the actual cost to produce it.The politicians told the SSI employees to “get over it and move onto a different career”, even though places like the Northeast and South Wales had spent generations, working in the steel industry and in a month it was all gone. They even claimed they couldn’t step in and support the industry like they did with the banks because it was against EU rules!
