Nate <3 Thank you for this!
Ok. Your minimalism is still impressive, but if you truly wish to make a positive impact on the world, you should now do the unthinkable: Give away huge portions of your wealth.
Yes, those are paper towels LMAO. You’re always good at self-realizations….you seem to know what works for you or re-evaluating/changing when it doesn’t. Great content, as always.
God bless you man. Really awesome that you’re prioritizing your character like this.
You are the definition of being down to earth and staying human since day one. That’s why you are the best out there keep it up!!
Wow. You are very special. Thanks for your content over the years 🙏
I think it’s great that individual are aware of their environmental footprints ,but it’s corporations and governments that are most wasteful. Forcing changes on those fronts will take a huge movement.
Rich people hang with rich people. – no shame there. Just like druggies hang with druggies, prof hang with prof etc
Ive also come to similar realizations after getting over the initial excitement and spending/consumption after a big bump in salary. I look forward to see your content, even if just once a month. Your voice is refreshing and much needed in today’s world.
Everyone is entitled to a change Nate! It’s called growth. We’ll continue to watch no matter where life’s path takes you next.
It’s interesting to listen to your train of thought Nate.
Considering the size of the audience you have acquired these last years, you are still pretty down to earth and that shows character.
Enjoy your time in the woods and I wish you all the best
I think being part of foundations or charities are great way to feel better. I mean, can be spending some time being a little part of bigger purpose when accumulated.
How can you call yourself a minimalist while using thousands of dollars worth of goods and services?
Just a lot of fantasy for YouTube content! That’s all.
Your vids on this and many other topics are very interesting–and often very thought provoking!
I’m planning to start travelling around in my truck shortly–so I’m super interested in your vids on your adventures and any lessons-learned!
As someone who is naturally NOT a minimalist, I find these discussions on minimalism interesting–as they cause me to (at the very least) evaluate my thinking. I’m not likely to ever go full-on minimalist (I have a house and that, by itself, isn’t very minimalist–especially when you need a lot of things to keep it up!). However, if a tornado blew my house and everything in it away–I’d likely find myself at a serious cross-roads about just what I really needed…
I am planning to start doing a lot more travelling (some in the back of my truck with a bit more of a purpose built topper; but, also, other trips all over the world). In doing that, I def need to adjust my thinking about how much I really need to take. I don’t want to endanger myself with too little (e.g., not having adequate clothing for the weather)–but I almost certainly don’t need all the things I might “want” to have with me. 🙂 So, while I might need more than a backpack, I am starting to wrap my mind around taking a LOT less than I would otherwise pack.
As for travelling–I think travelling, meeting others, seeing other cultures is of great value. Far too many Americans are so self-absorbed in their own tribe, with little interest in learning about others, that they are living in echo chambers and are incapable of having reasonable empathy for others. However, along the lines of minimalism, I hope to be able to do things like stay in hostels, etc. that allow me to travel widely at far more modest costs than staying at expensive hotels all the time. I’m both excited and a bit terrified about that type of leap. 🙂
(Note: as for EVs, given what you’re doing, where you’re staying, and the current state of EV technology–it’s likely your gas powered truck IS the better option. As technology changes and support for them grows, that may change. But, I wouldn’t say that you’re imperfect for driving a truck in your situation…).
I thought you were going to talk about minimalism in more of a mental capacity like what you give your attention to, what you think about, and how much you think about it. Cleaning up this space does wonders for your health as well.
This kind of relates to mindfulness and meditation.
Hi. So I would like to see videos about books of course and also about your habits, daily routine and healthy eating maybe.

We should look at those who has less than us, be grateful, and not those who have much than us in the materialistic sense. This world is just for some time, it’s a testing place. Sometimes we experience pain, trials and go through it with patience, sometimes we experience a lot of blessings, we’re grateful to Allah,The One True God. Living authentic Islam is beautiful.
ive heard the phrase “happy people spend money on EXPEREINCES, instead of materialism” do you believe that is true?
Excellent video!! The worst thing about being wealthy is the high likelihood of falling into the moral turpitudes of arrogance and egoism.
Almost anti-capitalist ideas coming from you, Nate. That’s not a bad thing, you can see that those who are obscenely wealthy are going down a path of feeling like ‘winners’ or that they were entitled to their wealth in place of others, especially when they inherited it.
Sometimes, those who started from nothing and became wealthy from their own hard work, can derive from core pillars of who they are, that keep them humble no matter how much wealth they accrue.
Totally agree it’s all about balance
I adore how you talk to me not everyone. Yet uploading to a big audience.
Nate, I’m curious to hear more about your perspective towards money. It seems like the one area of your life that you haven’t chose minimalism. In your spending, perhaps, but not in how much you make. I get that it’s important to have a buffer and enough to provide for loved ones. But how much is too much? Why work so much when if you have more than enough? Would you ever retire early? Is it that you enjoy the work so much and at this point the money doesn’t matter, but it’s how you want to be spending your time? Ps this is all coming from someone also asking these questions of herself, I’d love to hear your perspective since I respect your perspective in other areas you’ve shared.
These are questions that I ask myself increasingly
Speechless, I so appreciate this. How many people realize this and do nothing? Thank you for your honesty and protective awareness. 😊
Do what ACTUALLY makes you happy. Not what you WANT to make you happy.
This is the best video I’ve seen recently. Well said. I’d love to share some of the environmental projects I’ve been working on for a few years. I think people with online marketing skills that understand how to reach a lot of people can make a real impact on “saving the environment”. I don’t have any social media accounts anymore so if you want to connect just shoot me a comment or email. Really impressed you made this video!
Thanks Greg
love both of you guys
Remember you only get one life. Make the best of it
Nate, I appreciate you sharing your journey. I found a lot of value in your talks about mindset. I would enjoy a short talk on the mindset shifts that you would undergo in order to get into total work freedom as you currently do. What do you have to prioritize… What is your productivity workflow and things like that. Also, I enjoy book reviews too so if you come across a good one, let us know. Thanks for investing the time in others through your videos.
Nate is growing as he is expanding on his experience hanging with people of different wealth level, I.e mindset, lifestyle… etc, and is now reevaluating his perspectives with his new feedbacks
Consume me 💋
. . . great post . . . minimalism is a lifelong journey, and is a revolutionary state of mind . . . I am 73 and still discovering my personal minimalist path to the Sun . . . however your own journey reveals itself, just remember that all is fair, and creating wealth is fine as long as no one gets left behind . . . lovin’ your channel . . .
I appreciate this video. Good for you for being astute enough to self check yourself. 🍀
hey Nate, great video, really awesome subject. I think no one talks about enough, your channel is probably the only financial/life channel I watch. keep the videos coming. cant wait for the next one!!
The funniest and most thought inducing experience I ever had was at a restaurant in a meeting with some quite wealthy people ( a charity thing) and it turned out we all had flip phones. It was hysterical. I do because I’m frugal and I imagine they have more privacy and security in mind, or maybe they are frugal too. We all drive older vehicles which we bought new as well, so there’s that. It’s funny when a person has 4 houses (not rentals) and no luxury cars. Lessons to be learned.
Thank you for sharing! I think you’re ready to meditate and open all of your chakras and discover the universe inside you. 🙏❤️🌙💫✨🌈☀️🌎🌍🌔🌓
Such a great realizations! I’m in the same point where I realized, it was hard to relate to others and lost my authenticity. So, on a personal level, going back to basic and staying true to myself. This shows you are growing and learning more about yourself on a deeper level 🤍 Thank you for sharing!!
Well said. So glad you came to the realization.
I think about it too. But I’m not even famous or anything I’m broke. I just want to earn enough to survive this life and do some graphic design. That’s about it, that’s the mediocre goal I have.
Why do you work so hard bro?
What’s the end goal?
Not trying to sound smirmy, generally curious.
Myself, personally, I dream about having financial freedom, so I could have time without limitations.
But I think you already have financial freedom and then some.
Id love to see a what you do in a day video please ,
You are awesome bro. 🙏
You going the Diogenes route, kinda extreme don’t you think?
Interesting how consistent the answer is getting back to the basics. Doing the fundamentals and we constantly find ourselves getting pulled away from it! Stay focused on the main thing Nate!
So transparent and So refreshing

Nate I was thinking more about your video. I guess my question is what’s the point of living the lifestyle your currently living? Other then reducing carbon footprint. Also how long do you plan on living in the back of your truck? With all of your investments what’s your plans down the road? I think viewers like me wounded if your living a minimalist lifestyle what’s the need for all that money? That would be a great topic for a video? My thought of living your way of life seems pointless. However I enjoy learning more from you. Thanks!
NEWS FLASH – You would not make videos telling people how to live their lives if you did not think you were better than other people! If you thought they could think like an adult then why lecture them?
this video needs a few million views!
Hello! You are growing and moving onto other projects which is awesome! Please don’t stop making videos! Haha I love your content and thoughts. So some wisdom for kind of a young person haha! Would be interested in knowing more about your current business ventures
I love this guy
good luck
Best finance YTer philosophically speaking, bar none
This is a really important revelation, congrats. Been there myself, life is better when you see everyone is fighting the same fight and you don’t need have silly expenditures in “exclusive” places then maybe posted to social media to live a happy life, on the contrary in many ways.
I would be curious about your future plans? Do you plan on living in the back of truck? And why? Also what’s you plans with your investments? I like some aspects of your simple living. At the same time it seems pointless. I would find it very inconvenient. However the freedom part I find it attractive. How do deal with mail? Do you see yourself purchasing home at some point?
I don’t think the title is appropriate, you’re discovering a new angle to approach minimalism, which is great ! My thinking is also shifting and I think it’s a general trend. Minimalism a good way to reduce our footprint but we need to be mindful of the impact of experiences. Not everybody got to experience what you have but we all need to think about the ecological impact. I love this new path, keep us posted please !
My thoughtful suggestion would be why not try and maximize what kind of positive impact you can make on your footprint instead of just minimizing your own. You have a platform and a voice you can have a huge affect in the other direction. Imagine if you could use your persuasion to affect the world in such a way that it creates a million times your footprint in the opposite direction rather than just minimizing your own heck could proactively go even bigger if it has such a wonderfully bigger effect on the world at large. That way also you don’t feel guilt or regret either and feel fulfilled instead.
I looove the honesty.👍🏼
From the title of the video I thought you were going to tell us you’re no longer a minimalist. Glad to here that you still are a minimalist. I found your channel through your minimalist videos, been watching all your videos ever since. No heavy editing, just you sharing your thoughts with us. I love it
Love this.
Just a note, if you’re measuring your consumption in terms of dollars used, then you will always be consuming more. Inflation is designed to make life cost more and more and more. Children who grew up in the The Great Depression consumed many more dollars at the end of their lives than at the beginning, even with the scars, memories and habits that were formed through The Great Depression. My point here is, in order to honestly measure consumption, you have to track things in a different unit of measure, like pounds of food eaten, gallons of fuel used, units of electricity, etc. All of that is very difficult to measure, so you may feel like you are chasing the wind in this pursuit.
It’s good that you recognize there are other important things. But this lifestyle is not sustainable. It’s okay for a short time. But life is not a camping trip. Long term you need a proper place. You need to take a shower, sleep in a proper bed, have some space indoors for yourself to do stuff and relax. You’re trying hard, but living like a homeless person is already affecting you mentally, you’re not happy, you’re starting to get depressed.
Being a minimalist is not a good idea, when any practical person should have prepped food, water, equipment and other supplies. Being unprepared for the future is not responsible. There are more than enough folk out there living in a state of denial.
thank you for being an influencer.
What camera do you use the quality is insane.
I love your channel but I did not like this video. Of course, you can try to minimize your consumption. But please do not forget that everything has a price, I really don’t think electric cars will be better than fuel based cars. Most of the production of electric still comes from fuel based sources. Even, it does not come from fuel based sources. There is a price for so called green energy. Nobody talks about the harmful effects of solar panel production or other so called green energy solutions. I know this comment really solves nothing but we should all focus to use our time better. This world is going to end sooner or later.
when’s the santrel merch droppin
Should we drop some?
start hanging around with Scandinavian wealthy people, you’ll see a great difference in approach. Up there it’s kind of rude to splash with your wealth, they consider it ridiculous
No Family, no items. That’s it.
Unfortunately the mindset of people thinking they are better than others knows no economic limitation. Lots of broke folk out here acting that way too, unfortunately!
Thanks for watching

Minimalism isn’t working I own 2 pairs of shoes 👞
Nate, I am single. Lol
HMU ☝️☝️
Nate, I really appreciate your videos. This one in particular shows a lot of wisdom and insight. I’ve learned a lot from your videos, and practicing minimalism has helped create a lot more space and freedom in my life. You’re right – the materialism of more “stuff” does not lead to happiness and nor do other forms of materialism, as you describe in the video.
Should make a video with the minimalist
Wow
This mindset…
Hi Nate, If u don’t mind me asking do u have a religion or any sort of beliefs? Have u ever been to church before? I’m not trying to put u on the spot sry if it came across like that. I’m just simply curious. Thx.
BTW I love minimalism. I’m not perfect at it myself but I like striving towards it if possible.
Nate, that was an interesting video thx for sharing your thoughts/opinions. It’s great to see someone on YouTube being so free/open in the things they say
Thank you so much for this video Nate. i have found that the more expensive things I do, the less happiness I find in my own life, because I want to revolve my life around those expensive things, and cant find joy in the life I have outside of those expensive events because they are all I think about. Now a days, I try to find joy in my daily life, and I did today just by having a cup of orange juice because im sick. I wish you all of the best in your future and business
Nate is a legend

It took almost losing my life, losing my close bros, and being backstabbed by family I loved to go through an ego death. I came out of that hell a completely different man. I’m a minimalist without trying. You just do.. it’s hard to explain. Drama, clutter, nonsense.. it all had to go.
Electric trucks are still going to have an impact, and possibly a worse one.
Sounds like a soul searching here…nice vid lots of thoughts of life analyzation and the place is amazing but scary coz looks like u r d only 1 there! Lol.I enjoyed watching andlearning.
Sounds like time is precious to you and you also don’t want to waste it on things that don’t really benefit you. That’s another way of being a minimalist, making sure your time is well spent on what is important to you. 👏🏽💕 I am curious if you feel safe living alone in a car. I’ve always wanted to live on the road, but I’m a female and would get anxiety being alone on the road. Would love to hear your thoughts on safety living in your van in a video.
thank you so much for your honest thoughts, they are inspiring because they challenge (intentionally or not) the dominant viewpoint of more more more and that that is what ‘defines’ a successful life. I hope you continue making videos- even if like this you are just sharing your thoughts- it opens a needed space for different approaches to life.
It’s easier to clean with less stuff. I gotta get better at it at the whole minimalism stuff.
You are amazing 👏
I literally cannot with this dude… he’s so down to earth it’s mind blowing 😂
I am sure… Jesus Christ will work better.
I’m glad to see you back in your truck. The one you did last year where you took us on a tour in your truck is still one of my favorite videos of yours. I’m still waiting for the where do you take showers and go to the bathroom video that you said you might make. I’ve always said in my head that you are super mature for being a young guy. Even when you were prob 20 you were way mature than prob most 20 year olds. It’s humbling to see that you didn’t want to look or feel better than everyone and decided to move away from some things. That’s very impressive and makes you a good person as well. Keep it up man you’re doing well for yourself.
I’m not a minimalist, more of a hoarder but I’m working on getting rid of things I don’t need and sell and give the rest. It’s okay
Awesome that you caught yourself on this. I’m sure not just an easy thing to do.
Good for you for noticing this unhealthy trend in your life. Personally, I think this is why the ultra-wealthy should stop telling us peasants how to live. Like you get to places in a jet, and eat wagu beef and I should worry about my carbon footprint? I should be willing to eat bugs to save the planet? Get out of here.
I had to move couple of times over past few years and I can totally relate to this. Every time I sell / give away something, it’s such a great relief 😀
“if you’re spending a lot of time around wealthy people, doing expensive things… you start to subconsciously think you are better than other people” <- i like this point Nate. I'm glad to know someone in youtube that are still connected to who they were before these things happened. Keep it up
So glad to see your path to enlightenment. Because that is absolutely what this is. You are such a wonderful young man. You inspire me (and one of my money plants is still named after you haha)
Love this video. I have to say, when I saw the pictures of private flights etc on your Instagram stories I did a bit of a double take. I didn’t think it was what you were about (just based on your channel content!) and I’m glad it seems like it’s not! I always enjoy your videos about what you’re reading, still waiting for the book club 😂
HMU ☝️❤️
I agree with you. Living a simple life near the woods is the better choice.
Can you make a video where you show what you keep with you in your bag? Or a video about how many clothes you have now ? Thank you for your videos, have a nice day 😉
