The Gambia is paying the price for poor infrastructure at the Banjul River port.
It was once a preferred destination for cargo heading to many West African countries. But with limited space and a shortage of much-needed investment, the port is losing hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue every year.
And as neighbouring countries modernise and expand their operations, there are fears that The Gambia will lose more customers to the competition.

I wonder how people make proflts from this market, most people endorse HOLDING till it rises, however, the reality is, we can’t preserve holding forever, at some point we have to make proflts.

Has The Gambia also entered a deal with the Chinese government (like other African nations) to borrow money to build a port only to forfeit it to the Chinese when Gambia defaults on loan payments? I hope they are smarter than that.

@Kimmy All countries are responsible themselves and when those African countries are more worried about their own pockets then the development of the country then issues like this emerge. Gambia has a huge potential as it both have a minor land of gold and their agriculture is not used as it should be.
The gambians grow peanuts and other fruits but doesn’t know how to market or export them but only sell it within Gambia.

Africa is not a country. It is a continent and there are 54 countries in Africa today.
With the 54 countries, there are hundreds if not thousand of different tribal groups. Many of the tribal groups cannot get along well and still fighting each other. There are also religion problems, languages problems, races problems and corruption is beyond imagination in many of the 54 countries. If they can solve all these problems, Africa will rise eventually.
Public Private Partnership. Let the private investors raise the money, build the port, operate it for 20 years, then transfer it over to the government and it won’t cost you a penny.
Such arrangements tend to become permanent since the government can’t afford to buy the ports foreigners build.

@Charles Ndung’u Kenya is a heaven compared to Gambia at least on the city infrastructure aspect. But kenya is a large country and has more economics compared to Gambia. But as u said all African countries suffer because of the outside infiltration and influence.
You know if Africa would to fix it they had been able to flourish within a year . If all the Africans had geared up for a year of blockade and be able to survive a year after stopped the trade with the outside world and some things could Be improved.
