Mukesh Kapila, a former UN humanitarian agency coordinator, says he has spent 30 years working in numerous conflicts around the world but describes Israel’s ongoing attack on Gaza as “unique”.
He says that is because the most modern weapons are being used in one of the most densely populated areas on the planet. Kapila also denounced Israel’s repeated attacks on emergency services workers and overwhelmed medical facilities.
“What we’re seeing now is that all rules have broken down and there are no norms because this is a war on a whole society. There are really no rules at all. What we need to happen, therefore, is a rescue from outside,” he told Al Jazeera.

This war could have ended weeks ago if only Hamas handed over the hostages. Israel has explicitly called for the realease of the hostages before there is any chance of a cease fire. Folks, it seems pretty clear to me what should be done. Why the United Nations or other nations have not called for the release of the hostages is very discerning. They should be calling for the release of the hostages on a daily basis along with other nations. It is as if no one is listening, or they chose not to acknowledge the request coming from Israel and that would be the most deplorable response (no response) choosing hundreds of more lives lost and destruction of the communities. I really need someone to explain why the UN and other nations are not pushing for the release of the hostages.

Building tunnels doesn’t take billions of dollars, it’s actually quite inexpensive labor and costs. The weapons that Hamas uses are also relatively inexpensive compared to the fighter jets, tanks, and bombs that Israel uses. Most of the rockets that Hamas builds are homemade and have increased in sophistication over the years. Not saying however they don’t use any of the aid money towards their military budget.
Also, I think it’s such a double standard bc the United States of America has given billions of dollars of aid to Israel for their military and weapons when there is so much homelessness and internal issues going on in the United States right now.

Another breach they committed is this one, Article 18 4th GC- if a hospital is to enjoy special protection under the Convention, it may under no circumstances be used for non-medical purposes. So basically it is stating that public buildings used for military purposes receive no special protection under the law.
