India is trying to provide alternate means of employment to people, other than farming, so that they have a stable income because unnecessary amount of manpower is lost into agriculture. With better facilities available; as for sowing, irrigation, and harvesting; the farmer need not be always on the field anymore. Needs only common sense to understand. These farmers, who you think are protesting, are lured and trapped by ‘farm leaders ‘ who own huge plots of agricultural land, and who have monopoly to do business with government in those states, like Punjab. And there are these international Khalistani elements, who have created this online campaign, to garner international attention to these ‘protests’, so that some day their dream of having a drug-laden, corrupt Khalistan emerge in Punjab. The government held many talks with these protesting farmers, but now the opposition party and such vested interests have beefed up this issue, on-ground and in the international media. Please look at such sensitive issues with care because the narrative you set can too determine what people might understand of the situation.
India farming protests are big issues since the western politician do not care but they want the BJP government to fix the Farm Laws in a positive manner to bring peace and stability between Farmers protesters and the BJP government.

The thing which was not address is how the mandi’s work.
History –
This all started in India’s green revolution which focused only on punjab, haryana, western UP. They brought hybrid seeds( wheat and paddy) from Mexico, Phillipines and this new seeds needed high irrigation, high maintenance hence came the current setup called mandi and msp(minimum standard price)
Issue-
The mandi’s are highly politicised which changed the sole purpose of it.
A) how mandi’s work?
Farmers( above a prescribed limit of produce) have to come to nearby (already fixed based on the region) mandi to sell and they can’t connect directly to buyers but instead they have to sell to commission agents ( ideally, who does auction with buyers and then take their commission and hence act as a middleman). Buyers are paying good amount but this entire amount is not reaching farmers due to commission agents ( who controls the organisation structure of mandi’s)
B) mandi lack infrastructure like cold storage, due to this farmers are forced to sell their produce immediately after harvest and therefore getting low price.
There is an upper limit in the amount that can be stored in a storage facility as well
C) license raj in mandi
It is really hard to get a license to be a new commission agent due to the hegemony of the existing commission agents + large farmers.
D) due to the existence of minimum support price the innovation is lacking in agriculture industry and lacks crop diversification ( mostly rice and wheat gets the upper hand) and this cause land degradation and thereby increasing the usage of more fertilizers
How to come out
A) contract farming and farmers should be free to sell their products anywhere they want.
B) change in organizational structure of mandi
C) remove the limit in storage and thereby improving the cold storage facility in the country and due to this immediate selling pressure can be removed

I agree that farming need fixing but people outside India didn’t realised that big corps funds elections campaigns every election and every party that win is controlled by them so that these laws r not made by government its made by these bugs corps who took everything from expect Haryana and Punjab there was on guy comes to work in our fields every year with family he’s told my family his story that they also had 100 Akers of fields but big corps r talking every penny from them, they had no choice to come work in Punjab so they can provide for there family. I know some people will see this as bullshit but this is the harsh reality. The world is run by those who have power. It will be right something coming out from someone who has power.

I am from India and have read a lot about the protest but the only thing that concerns me is that why are the farmers from the north protesting (opp. party states) and not the whole of Indian farmers…..I know there is lobby among Northern farmers but still………..

Farmers needs to understand that farming needs changing…..but few of them don’t want any changes…….reason is very simple as those protesting are those who have benefitted most from green revolution and mandis and govt. subsidies i.e. farmers from Punjab & Haryana(green revolotion came only to these parts in form of canal system, etc) they control mandis and regulate prices of crop in country. If the mandis loose importance so will they, hence no talk till the laws are taken back…….
For those interested my family still does farming in bihar…I don’t as the output is not substantial and I have read these laws thoroughly and I don’t belive much will change for farmers in Bihar or little will change anywhere specially for small farmers still its a welcome change.

Farmers carry seeds and fertilizer . Farmers don’t carry Swords, Iron rods, Stones . Only rioters and hooligans carry Swords,
Iron rods, Stones .
1. The three farm bills are already in place and working fine as of now
and they are part of congress , bjp, ncf parties 2019 election manifesto.
ex farmer minister of ncp and present congress chief minister of punjab also
supported the same reforms in the past. Now all oppositon parties change their stand and making farmers scape goat.
2. post dialogue with farmers and govt ,On december 9th clarified with 10 point
amendment
that all the doubts farmers posed and will be tabled in next session of
parliament. But protesting farmers unions change stand after dec 9th
and want full repeal.
3. In 2019 farmers can’t sell their
produced rice/wheat/vegetables etc out side of the district or county
and cant sell to any one outside of the APMC market yards/mandis and
farmer has to pay 8.5 percent fees( 3% to market yard improvement, 3% to
district development , 2.5% to licensed commision agents). In some
markets they collect both from seller and buyer each 8.5% . These new
2020 farm laws allows farmers to sell to any where in india to any one .
no restriction. It is upto local government to charge needed cess or
fees.
4. In 2019 only 10% of total agriculture produce (mainly
wheat and rice)was bought by government agency FCI (Food Corporation of
India as a stockpile for emergeny security) . 85% was purchased by
private buyers . In 2019 only 15% of produce of total agriculture was
purchased at minimum support price (MSP) and rest was purchased at lower
price. Till 2010 the minimum support price was lower than the
international price of the goods. After 2010 the minimum support price
was increased higher than international price and no exporter is
buying at msp except govt agency and all godowns of FCI agency are full with 4.5 trillion tonnes of wheat and rice .
5. who is at loss due to this farm bills of 2020 are
A. punjab state governments who charge 3% cess for district
developement will loose around 15000 millions (1500 crores) indian
rupees per year income.
B. the punjab licensed commision agents (who are mainly punjabi sikh jat caste landlords )who get 2.5%
charge per transaction thro markets will loose 1000 crores (10000
million) rupees per year only in punjab state.
c. Other than punjab and haryana no other state charge district fees and market cess
and they charge only commision agent fees. Some states there are no
markets/mandis like in kerala (since 1980) and bihar (since 2008).
6. The funding for protest is happening by charging 500 rupees per farmer .
80% farmers own only less than 2 hectres /5 acre land.
7. The foreign punjab seperatist/secissionist group sikh for justice announced 1
millon dollars as donation and indian banks stoped the
distribution asking account holder to show FCRA ( Foreign control regulatory) registrants for permission
8. All want farm reforms. Punjab and Haryana farmers unions want to repeal
and rest of indian country farmers are happy that they can sell
anywhere. I think if central/union govt gives that 1500 crores to punjab
govt per year and 1000 crore to punjab commision agents it will stop.
9. In 2021 january govt gave a option to protesting farmers union that it will hold the laws till 2 years until
joint committe of farmers and govt will finalize the law clauses that will benefit farmers or not. But unions are adament.
10. On jan 26,2021 farmers unions done tractor rally and in that lot of Iron rods, Swords carrying rioters injured 200 police men
of delhi police and some of them in ICU. Delhi police not used single bullet and took the beating from iron rods of rioters.
11. Delhi police booked 300 rioters based on jan 26 2021 cctv camera footage and upon delhi court order. But on 6th feb 2021 farmers unions
done chakkajam (round up of delhi) with lot of demands along with item 3 demand of letter( submitted to delhi police) that the
delhi police should release all 300 rioters who took them in custody based on court order for jan 26 violence.
12. On Feb 2021, Supreme court of india created an farmers expert committe of experts to listen to greviances but farmers unions
boycotted them .
13. On April 2021, Indian central government said that they will pay the purchased price of rice and wheat by food coorporation of
india to the farmers directly to their bank account which punjab state farmers unions are opposed it because lot of the food grains
purchased by fci in punjab are not grown in punjab instead they bought from other states and sold to fci by middle men by forming account
ring to get more commission.
Now they caused second wave of corona

Vested interests are at the core of farmers’ protests obviously at the cost of helpless and poor.
