They say that Donbas and Crimea are pro-Russian. Now let’s see how they treat the Ukrainian soldiers to see if that is true.
To be fair, it’s a sliding scale. There definitely were a lot of collaborators in both regions. Pre-war some would surely identify as ethnically Russian and some of those maybe would have wanted to be part of Russia, there was conflict there for a long time with wrong done on both sides. Amongst the older and more provincial many would still feel like Soviets – it wasn’t that long ago it fell.
However, now I don’t think there will be any question – collaborators will run as Ukraine takes back these area’s.
The real question will be if Ukraine can properly keep order (people who took Russia passports to get food aid shouldn’t need to be afraid of reprisal for example).
Anyone on the fence who previously was suckered in by Russian doublespeak will probably have learned the reality.
LPR and DPR are forcing its people to fight so i imagine they aren’t to happy about that.

Only if countries wanted to join together out of cultural, economic gain. Because those are there brothers and sister or because it boosts the economy as a whole. Like Mexico could be annexed if they wanted and minimum wage would be applied and many more things which would boost their standard of living and give the us an increase to the labor force, give Mexican/Americans freedom to move across the land. There is no incentive for them to move out of Spanish speaking regions of the us unless they know English so it handles itself however we would have to deal with corruption and drug cartels and some other things. Also you’d have more states so that also changes things.
But that is how willing annexation could work, though problematic still
