To demonstrate how unlikely a faithless elector coup would be, in 2016 there was an organised and concerted effort to protest Donald Trump’s election, and possibly even to prevent him become president at all, which as far as I’m aware is the first time there was any organised effort within the electoral college to conduct such a thing.
The result of these efforts was a grand total of 10 faithless electors – not even close to enough votes to swing the election. Joe Biden is a much less controversial figure than Trump; a faithless elector coup is only possible on paper. In practice it’s all but impossible.

I think faithless electors would mostly hurt Trump because the states send electors that are picked by the popular vote winner in that state. Pretty much every democrat does not believe the election was stolen because none of the lawsuits have proven any fraud and there’s no evidence that when seen by a court has led them to think it was fraud. The lawyers in those cases even told the judge that they were not saying the election was rigged. Trump’s strategy is to lie to Americans to win the court of public opinion. But he’s only convincing people that wanted him elected. Ultimately all the affidavits that we are not allowed to see have been seen in court. In court they were not able to convince even Trump appointed Judges. It’s obvious that the election was not rigged. Therefore we don’t have to worry about faithless electors.

I wonder what kind of legal consequence it would have if Rudy or any of the Trump followers were to perjure themselves before a judge by repeating their allegations under oath. Trump still has legal immunity for a little while longer, so he can allege whatever he pleases with impunity. But not Rudy.

As long as you don’t claim to be a health care practitioner, I guess it’s legal to promote these ideas, because that’s covered by one’s freedom of speech and religion. But if you’re a doctor and you end up in court somehow, you might be held accountable because such claims would be tantamount to medical malpractice, jeopardizing patient safety.
