In Peru, the government has declared a five-day curfew in 15 regions across the country.
That comes after the Supreme Court’s decision to keep former President Pedro Castillo in detention for the next 18 months.
At least 14 people have been killed in week-long protests that were sparked by the country’s political crisis.

To those who don’t know. 90%+ of the people are ok with what happened. There are small protests that are happening mostly by the ex-president party members, in the bigger cities, plenty of riots everywhere targeting strategic areas to block the arrival of the police or armed forces (Airports) These are organized by terrorist groups not the people, There has been large demonstrations of real citizens marching alongside with the police denouncing the terrorists who are have been overwhelming the police, burning public buildings, police stations, city halls. People from the rural areas can be naive but they are NOT stupid to damage/shut down their source of income or to destroy what they have. Terrorist groups are doing this. (these are linked to ex-president Castillo)

Battle between the ordinary Peruvian against the elite? Oviously you don’t know much about other countries. That is the way it is in ALL countries in the world, not just Peru. As long as there is money, there will always be an elite class, sometimes they even trade places. And no, It IS like Marjory Tailor Green was president in Peru, It was a scandal after another and the crazy talk for the 16 months (70+ ministers fired, resigned) during that time he was the president. Politicians from the right, left and center will always turn a blind eye on the abuses of corporations. It’s always been like this. Corruption turns everyone It’s part of “La Viveza Peruana”. Care to mention who did not become super rich from being in the government? Do the research and stop repeating leftist propaganda. (For those in the USA. The left in Peru is like the extreme right-wing in the USA. it’s the opposite). The left has ties with extreme terrorist groups/hate groups and prey on the less educated and the good people of the land.
