US President Joe Biden has called for the African Union to become a permanent member of the G20, the group of the world’s 20 biggest economies.
He was speaking on the final day of the US-Africa leaders summit in Washington, DC.
Biden also announced billions of dollars in support and investment for Africa.

From around the late 1700’s until the early 1990’s China’s military was way behind its western counterparts. They were a largely impoverished nation as well. If the permanent members were supposed to be a club for the top nations alone, China wouldn’t have been in it. Which military did China hold to a stand still back then? Hospitals and schools and drinking water facilities have been built by Western organisations in Africa for decades as well. The problem with China is that it does these projects, especially infrastructure, not for humanitarian reasons but to force countries into debt and Chinese control over natural resources. They are definitely not some sort of altruistic saint. China is a neocolonialist power, too, with Its own geopolitical interests. and an authoritarian one at that. Soon, people will complain about China draining the world of resources and causing wars just like the US. It’s just a matter of power and resources.
