Russia says it is concerned by rising tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Kremlin says talks are taking place with the two former Soviet states.
The latest flare-up is because of protests on the only road that links the Armenian-populated part of the enclave with Armenia.

No Zangezur corridor = No Lachin corridor !!! The agreement after the war, which Armenia lost, was that Armenia was going to open the Zangezur corridor and Azerbaijan was going to do the same for the Lachin corridor. But as usual Armenia did not keep its promise of opening the Zangezur corridor. Hence, Lachin corridor closes as an Azeri response. Armenia’s allies are Iran and Russia. When was Armenia on the same side with the West ? Never and ever in its entire history. Armenia have always been Russia’s top ally and today is no different. What is so interesting is that Iran, the religious Iran, supports christian Armenia with a passion against its moslem neighbor Azerbaijan. And why does Iran and Armenia love each other so much ? (It is because they both hate Azerbaijan). Armenia and Russia love Iran back very dearly because after all, which country other than Iran, would support Russia’s and Armenia’s land grabs and provide weapons to them in times of difficulty and war ? Some things never change throughout the history) and that is the reason why all these three countries love each other so much because they are partners in crime (in grabbing Azeri lands). During the recent war between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Russian weapons were being transported by Russian ships over Caspian sea and delivered to Iranian ports on the Caspian sea, and then Iran was shipping them to Armenia with trucks and trains through Iran’s border with Armenia. If that isn’t Axis-of-Evil, what is ? Today the same Iran, sends drones to Russia and Armenia is cheering on and offering Russia its own jets to bomb Ukraine, if Russia ever needs them.

@Anush Amirkhanyan In the last two thousands years, there wasn’t even a country called Armenia up until beginning of 20th century, when Russia decided to create this small country as it suited Russia’s interests. In the first millennium eastern Roman empire owned Anatolia/Caucasus and Armenians were a minority in this powerful empire. At the beginning of second millennium Turks arrived at Anatolia/Caucasus and had beaten the eastern Roman empire and took over the ownership of these lands. Just like in the first millennium, in the second millennium, when Turks ruled Anatolia/Caucasus there was no country called Armenia and again Armenians were just a minority up until 20th century. Let’s face it, Armenia was never a country until 20th century. In ancient times (you may have to go back as far as stone age), there might have been an Armenian state but in the last two millennium, Armenians didn’t have a country. Now you have a small country, with a population of about 3 million and you will always be grateful to Russians for giving you a country. But let’s not forget, Russia did this to make you indebted to them forever. Armenia will never be able to be an independent country standing on its own feet because it is too small and it doesn’t have the scale to make it in that geography. Turks are totally different. They always stood on their own feet and they fought pretty much with everyone and they even managed to colonize vast parts of eastern Europe for centuries. Armenians need to understand their geography well and they still don’t because they don’t have a long history of statehood and statehood wisdom and strategy. This is understandable because after all they are a very new country with existence of merely a century and significant part of that was being a Russian state under Soviets. You are in the middle of a 300 million Turkic speaking world. You are tiny and make a lot of empty noise and shout a lot. If you don’t get along well with the Turkic world around you, you will be doomed forever. During Ottoman times, Armenians were a privileged class within the Ottoman empire and they were tradesman and they were rich. When you decided to align yourself with Russians, that was the point when you lost everything. Now look at Armenia. From the riches of Ottoman days, to the average man on Erivan streets now. Grand children of rich Ottoman Armenians live a Kardishan life style in America but in the Russian promised country of Armenia poverty is everywhere. You went from Ottoman riches to Russian poverty. You have been very unwise by pairing yourself with Russians and revolting/fighting against Ottomans, the country where you had huge privileges and you were far richer than an ordinary Ottoman citizen. Russians cheated you with religion and with the promise of a rich Armenia to attract you to their side. Is Armenia rich or poor now ? As a nation, you have to recognize where you went wrong…..from riches to poverty. That is Russia for you. They used you and tossed you away. You should have never believed them.

That is the Russian design my friend. When the Soviets were drawing the maps, parts of Karabakh could have been made a part of Armenia and Zangezur could have been made a part of Azerbaijan and this would have ensured peace in the future. Soviets could have drawn the maps this way. But of course, if this was done, then there would be peace now and Russian soldiers wouldn’t have been needed in southern Caucasus. Soviets had done very similar tricks with the maps of central Asia and that is why there are always border disputes there as well. Russia need constant conflicts in former Soviet Republics so that Russia can maintain its influence and even expand it, and if this tactic doesn’t work, last resort will be outright invasion, just like it happened in Ukraine.
