He was regarded as a strict traditionalist within the Catholic Church.
He resigned in 2013, after suffering ill health, becoming the first pontiff to step down in 600 years.

@MD Yeasin I mean of course the Qu’ran will say that. It’s the holy book of the Islam. Allow me to rephrase my earlier statement as it would be misleading of me to not state it differently: As I said, Muhammad, the messenger of god, said that all races and religions are equal. This statemetn can also be found as stated by different prophets of different religions, sometimes in their holy books, including the Bhagavad Gita. It would be unwise to include the Bible in this list ad I apologize for that.

@Rina Lore I wasn’t talking to you. You may have misunderstood. I was referring to the honorable MD Yeasin. I will agree with you that the Vatican has been and is corrupt, but I do not agree that *all* of them are guilty of *all* of the deadly sins (I don’t believe murder is one of them, but I’m Hindu and I might be wrong). The pope has historically been corrupt, but I don’t see much standing in the way of the last few popes, including the late Pope Emeritus.
