More than a dozen countries and territories have imposed restrictions on travellers from China amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, with Australia and Canada requiring negative test results for all passengers from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao.
The latest curbs were announced on Sunday as COVID-19 overwhelmed hospitals and funeral homes across China.

What a joke! having to produce a negative report 48hrs before boarding the plane. What good does that do when it can take 10 days or more to germinate, so a few days after arriving in the country you are now positive and have spread it everywhere for the past few days. I really hope they sort this out soon. I work in aviation, I was so happy as countries around the world start to remove all restrictions. I’ve just got a sense that things are going back to normal again. Now it feels like we are back to 2020 all over again.

Good. I heard the Chinese media has had the audacity to complain and cry foul, after everything the world has been through. The hypocrisy is clear, they have locked down their nation for the past three years with an iron fist. And locked out foreigners. Yet they call countries requiring a simple negative COVID test from Chinese people “unscientific.”
The mind boggles at how such hypocrisy from a supposedly responsible actor, and world’s second largest economy, is even possible.
The Chinese operate by knowingly contradicting themselves and spreading disinformation. Their morality and sense of honor is clearly a 180 to that of the West. I say white is black, you say black is white etc, which is it? It’s such a tiring approach for rational and logical thinkers to deal with, which is exactly China’s aim. They have only one tired old line to push, that of the CCP.

I remember we were all impressed by how diligently China managed the virus and they seemed, at least to me, to be among the first ones out of the pandemic. It was a massive failure, after all. So sad for the Chinese people!

Garbage, many visitors from China have already entered many countries prior to testing. The horse has already bolted. At this stage, it is well known that even if a visitor tests negative 2-3 days before boarding, their body still won’t show an active infection for another 4-5 days, after which they are roaming around their destination, infectious.
What i know is many countries are waiting for China Tourist. Their tourism economy is suffering, and they need this boost. You can see that with China economy slowing down, the world is going into a recession.

Anti-China political move. Other countries had opened up months ago and these countries did not impose any restrictions. As Dr Jay Varma has said, there’s no reason China is different from those countries which had opened up earlier. The XBB 1.5 strain was first found on the US months ago, and no country imposed any restriction on us travellers arriving. It’s pure discrimination against China. The added FUD about “under reporting” is pure propaganda well. New zealand just announced that they won’t require Chinese to show covid test and only handful of EU countries out of 27 member states require covid test. Auckland and Sydney air route is one of the busist in the world. If someone from China first travelled to New zealand and then to Australia, Australian govt won’t require anything.
