Republicans take control of the United States House of Representatives on Tuesday.
Still, their House leader, Kevin McCarthy, may fall short of securing a majority amid opposition from far-right members.
The Republican Party narrowly won a majority in November’s midterm elections but failed to take the Senate.
The poor showing has led to disagreements at the top of the party.
