As flood-ravaged California braces for more rain, storms are hitting the southeast, with tornadoes reported in Alabama. NBC’s Marissa Parra and Bill Karins have more.

“Work hard to enter the NARROW door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail.”
— Luke 13:24
“Jesus told him, ‘I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father EXCEPT through Me.”
— John 14:6
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
— Acts 4:12
“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new Spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.”
— Ezekiel 36:26
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I AM the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life.”

“I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention.”
— Proverbs 1:24
Like your Amish. Wrong Door.
What are you doing?
It would be nice if we as Americans could pull together in mutual sympathy and concern for all the people effected by the disasters that have hit our country coast to coast this winter, rather than all the partisan sniping I see so often.
Nah
Agreed. Shouldn’t we provide food and water before safe shelter? Shouldn’t we do this for all and not just select people?
Many of those posts come from 50 cents army of Chinese government. It’s a form of cyberattack and propaganda war to destabilize US societies. People need to be aware of it.
@CRAIG B no basic needs and healthcare is how they keep poor ppl poor
sympathy does nothing. Send $$, food and repair supplies if you really care.
California the liberal sh*t hole I say GOOD RIDDANCE 18 LESS DEMOCRATS
keep putting on internet and youtube instead of television which is political slavery to federal tyranny
Anything that isn’t sunny and 92 degrees and Cali ppl just cant survive huh. Like Dallas when it snows smh
California’s a land of extremes. It doesn’t rain for 9 months, then it doesn’t stop for 9 weeks.
These atmospheric rivers are basically like hurricanes without the wind.
@JohnDoe well yeah, but that doesn’t mean ppl can’t be prepared more. It’s not a weather issue it’s a ignorance issue. Many inland states get more rain in a shorter amount of time. And not to mention the Southeast/Northeast gets the worst of it. Californian ppl have the same issue as Texans they think weather is so irrelivent that they never prepare for when weather actually happens.
And yes, before anyone point it out, I know Cali has way less vegetation to hold in soil and dirt so land slided happend and flash flooding is more prone to happen. However, this should be known to the general public that lives there. Like it’s not hard to read a book or just educate yourself to keep you and your family safe. Prayers for all affected, but pls educate yourself about environmental dangers where you live at. Nature doesn’t care to wait on people, so be adaptable and prepared.
@DCxFox You know, you’re kind of self-righteous and shtty. Remind us not to have any sympathy for you when a weather disaster strikes your area.
@JohnDoe Yes. As a native of 43 years, I can tell you that people hear “California” and think we don’t have extreme weather or we don’t prepare. California is MASSIVE and the geography is insanely diverse. You could argue we should have been preparing more for fires with controlled burns and I would agree with that. But I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with the 24” of rain that fell in December and the 14” that have fallen this month so far where I live with more on the way.
I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains which are along the central coast. We have received 10” of rain in areas here in 24 hours with some of these storms, and believe it or not, that is not the most I’ve seen here. We had hurricane force winds recently. We prepare all we possibly can here. We just spent $16,000 (not a typo) on tree work on our property just before this recent bout of storms, and thank god we did, because we may have had one in our house had we not. There is little you can do in terms of preparation outside of defensible space and preparing for drainage as best you can. The San Lorenzo Valley is being battered hardest (outside of the north bay) and unfortunately, they have two issues at the same time… flooding and potential landslides of burn scar areas.
Ground can only hold so much water. There is nothing I can do to prepare that would allow the ground everywhere in these mountains to hold more water than they can. Once they are full, the obvious happens.
I’m astounded by comments like OP’s for their ignorance, but at the same time, I get it. Not trying to be a jerk, but when you have these assumptions and people are literally dying, the comments come off as incredibly callous. California is portrayed as Bay Watch and nothing else to many. Did you know the Sierras hold world records for snowfall? We get it all here. California averages 11 tornados a year. Certainly nothing compared to many states, but the average person doesn’t realize we even have tornados, or massive snowfalls, or torrential downpours. Where I am, we receive more rainfall that Seattle. The difference being, we get all our rainfall over a very short period of time by comparison which is what often makes it catastrophic. I think people assume it never rains, which is somewhat fair because we’re always in a drought. But that isn’t accurate.
Anyway, long-winded way of saying “I agree.” 😂
RIP Kyle 😢
when is California the southeast?
🤣🤣🤣
@Richard Romero You can’t fix stupid California
@Gurr 👍
we actually need a lot more water
Yes, just not at once
Most of those large trees in California root of from the fallen tree stock.
We trust our weather makers.
Too bad people don’t believe in climate change. Chicago only got like a week or snow. Buffalo got another blizzard once again The climate is changing and no one sees it well people with power don’t see it
Does NBC ever have anything good to say? I didn’t think so..
Just curious if the heavy rain in California is being caused by the same “Climate Change” you blamed the drought on last year? 🙄
The answer is YES! Do some reading.
Hey yall this is texas. Yall hang on itll be over soon. Take care
Right back at you Christian.
I hope California gets another 18-24 inches of rain
I hope it breaks away and floats to China.
I hope California sinks into the Pacific Ocean
Along with the rest of the country because people are the same everywhere….and there is dirt and water, wind where you are too where you stand everyday. The profiling is off the chains. Politicians are politicians and money is money. 😊
California always complains about rain 🌧 now they got it 👍
There are 2 more storms coming, right? Crazy. California burning 2 years ago and now flooding. I hope some of this rain gets into Arizona.
My heart goes out to all of these people dealing with the wrath of Mother Nature. I can’t imagine what the mother of that 5 year old is going through. I hope they find him, so she can have closure.
Meanwhile:tornados in Alabama.
@NBC News — Only the proximal cause is the “saturated ground”. Look closer. Look at those root systems. They SHOULD be almost the diameter and depth below ground as the spread and height of the tree above ground. They’re not even close. The reason is drought, and years of insufficient DEEP watering. Just like NBC reportage, the quantity and depth are lacking. Also, that’s NOT “mud” and “debris”. It’s TOPSOIL and BIOMASS being washed away towards the bottom of the ocean.
JUDGMENT IS WORLDWIDE.
GOD IS ANGRY!!!
“THOU SHALT NOT LIE WITH MANKIND, AS WITH WOMANKIND: IT IS ABOMINATION.”
LEVITICUS 18:22!
PEOPLE WHO DISOBEY THIS COMMANDMENT BRING JUDGMENT ON THE LAND, AND EVERYONE AROUND THEM SUFFERS.
REPENTANCE IS OUR ONLY HOPE!
THERE IS NO VACCINE FOR SIN.
THIS WORLD IS SHUTTING DOWN.
THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND!
“AND WHOSOEVER WAS NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE WAS CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.”
REVELATION 20:15!
REPENT AND RECEIVE JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR TO HAVE YOUR NAME SECURED IN HIS BOOK OF LIFE!
TIME IS WINDING UP.
Every time you see flooding in California think of wasteful government stupidity. If they had half a brain they would use the water instead of allowing it to destroy.
