Why do people still drive on ice? Doesn’t make any sense.. Please be safe out there
Texans deserve anything that happens to them. Anything. Year after year, they keep electing the most corrupt politicians in the United States. These politicians allow ANY industry to sh#t on the citizens as long as the campaign contributions are being made. Texas is a corrupt sh#thole.

Power outages need to be a thing of the past. This needs to be a priority if we are serious about switching to total ev transportation. The wires on posts is technology from the 1800’s. I have been a homeowner for 54 years and have never lost my natural gas utility. The electric utilities need to be spending money on updating the grid instead of trimming trees and putting their linemen on 16+ hour shifts in the most horrible weather. It is not an act of God that brings down power lines, it is an act of ineptness for not putting the power lines where they belong. Shame on you utiity execs for allowing 400,000 households to freeze tonight.

I am glad, I never got my gas turned off to go full electric. After our last freeze, people that turned their homes full electric, changed their minds real quick & connected their gas lines back up. My power went out last night, but all my gas heaters kept us nice & warm.
It helps not to be on your own state power grid oh the bills going to be off the chain in Texas!

I live in Austin, and as far as i can tell the supply side actually held up, unlike last time. But trees took out local power lines due to added weight from the ice.

Okay pay attention and read slowly. Two years ago, the temps were down below zero in N. Texas and only in the low to mid teens in the more southern parts. This week, 20’s and 30’s with three days of freezing rain and sleet, not snow.

Y’all, you can’t do anything with ice but look at it. Don’t be out driving on that…unless you’ve got studded tires.
You can power the electric side of a gas furnace with a car battery and a power inverter for about 2 or 3 days before needing to recharge the battery. It’ll save you from freezing in these extended power outages. There are plenty of videos on YouTube to learn how. Or an electrician can help you with that. But it’s not that difficult to do.
We’re lucky Houston wasn’t affected because it would have been millions more affected and more strain on the grid that’s still broken.
