Members of the Portuguese Catholic Church have sexually abused more than 4,000 children since 1950.
That is among the findings of a commission investigating child abuse in the Portuguese Church, released on Monday.
Most of the victims were men, and 77 percent of perpetrators were priests, the commission said.
It is the latest in a long series of investigations into sexual crimes by Catholic priests in numerous countries.

Unfortunately this is true. My grandpa was one child abused, at the time all he could do was to run away from the church and heal himself alone, through hard work and amazing strength. Some scars remained, he hated all the clergy and forbid all his children from being baptized or going to the church. Nevertheless, my grandpa had a very strong faith and character, actually he’s always been my hero. God save my grandpa!
