While looking into that claim, I came across information claiming crime rates of Middle Eastern countries are between equal to greater amounts of European countries. Though which exactly is more crime ridden changes slightly depending on the source.

I am no expert on this, but when I came across is generally similar and mixed results.
Though I have more concerns about about reports in some middle eastern countries, because in a number of them there is such a thing as honor killings.
So if a person got rapped they would be less likely to report it.
Though I do believe that video example. The only issue is that we need to be understanding to a matter of factors which effect people and the world.
Such as understanding that people will generally be more interested in a person who is average to above average in appearance.
Then there is local social norms. While the best tries to make itself be seen as multicultural, they are very much western, and so most western like people will usually be more interested in similar said people, then others.
With all this in mind, I live in a western society. A woman wearing a hijab doesn’t me as much as others.
But if I were in a situation where all women wore hijab, and that was the norm, I would likely have an equal interest into those women as I once did in my hijab lacking society.
(The fact that Sharia law is strict does not make it good in my view, because the punishments are too destructive for the person for most crimes that there is never any learning from their mistakes, which I view as a flaw)
