@David Heller Utopians like the guy in the video usually end up implementing systems that cause hardship and suffering for regular people while the elites try to build their perfect world. It never works because they ignore basic human nature. The 20th Century is filled with example of this – with tens of millions of dead bodies to go along with it. I agree with the basis of your argument but I don’t believe that universal income isn’t viable as a solution. With the insane GDP increase AI would contribute towards I believe a quite large universal income could be distributed relative to what we could do with today’s GDP. Also i don’t agree that higher ups would increase the price of things astronomically it’s simply the law of supply and demand. With AI increasing productivity massively therefore supply will also dramatically increase so if anything producers would lower prices because they can produce them at far lower costs, and especially if incomes drastically decrease like you’re asserting all that would cause is a vast decrease in demand.

@suge Depends on whether those in power (maybe it’s not always governments) have enough cause to fear the general population. With an AI tool with near god like ability to control and manipulate the masses they might not be concerned at all about an uprising. Or maybe they manipulate us to destroy each other and ourselves? The money is still going to flow to whoever’s running the AI. And the economy will still be running because AI still needs resources and infrastructure and communication in order to interact with other AI. But the humans that aren’t needed for work anymore will have no source of income and quality of life will degrade significantly as they can no longer afford the basic necessities. Nobody is going to actively go out of their way to prevent this, and if there is any resolution it will come as a result of us experiencing the natural consequences of devaluing people.
