Four children found alive after 40 days in the Colombian jungle have been reunited with their relatives.
The eldest sibling is 13, the youngest, just one year old.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro said they survived like ‘children of the jungle’.
Al Jazeera’s Alessandro Rampietti reports from Bogota, where the youngsters are recovering in hospital.

Poor babies the amount of trauma they have gone through is unbelievable and beyond human imagination. We adults take so much time healing through such traumas, imagine poor children seeing such devastation and then seeing their parents lying around. My God I got goosebumps as I read about it. The children ate fruits, plants and seeds from the forest. Colombia army also air dropped food packages in the forests and maybe they found them

Does someone know why they are in that plane? The mother and the children are the only passengers. The other 2 adults were pilots.
They were going from their town Araucaria, which is in a very remote area of Colombia, to San José del Guaviare, another equally remote town but a little larger, and then they would go to Bogotá to meet with the rest of their family.
@M thanks for the info! That explains why they took a small plane… i keep on hearing that they are indigenous as well, and I wonder if plane rides are very costly for them price-wise. Would u also where the father has been all this time? Sorry been searching in the internet, not luck. There was a clip that the father just emerged but in the last week, it had just been mostly the grandparents.
@Potle Yagits The town where they were is very remote and flights are one of the few options to get out, I don’t know how expensive they could be. The father was looking for them all the time since the accident, apparently the grandparents and the father have some differences that’s all I’ve heard.
I am so happy the children not only survived but were finally saved. Now my real question here is what we’re they orginally doing on the plane for? For what purpose??
