A Nepali Sherpa rescued a Malaysian climber found clinging to a rope below Mount Everest’s summit. It’s an area known as the “death zone,” where successful rescues are very rare.

unbelievable.
God bless those courageous Sherpa who do an unbelievable job on Everest. Without the Sherpa people no one would Summit 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. The Sherpa people are a great race and assesst to have on your expedition team. Please always show respect to the Sherpa people all the time. They are only here to save your life for a measly $5,000 USD.
A mysterious Msian. What we know, there was one Msian that died on Everest & buried just recently at his home state & another Muhammad Hawari Hashim still missing…
Heroes!!!! Our BIG BIG thanx to you !
I have no desire to climb Everest.
There the real climbers!. The rest just rich people looking for a deadly thrill. Why don’t you carry ypur own stuff and take the REAL challenge like them.
I’m sure he got a nice $5 tip after that….
proud of you bro…great job❤
The climber that he saved is angry that this story is getting out, and doesn’t want anyone to know he had to be saved by the sherpa. He’s trying to paint a narrative that he then climbed back down all by himself with “willpower”
17 out of 478 = 3.5% chance you’d die trying to climb Mount Everest. Lower than I thought, actually.
god bless the of the Sherpa may he live to see his great grandchildren
The Sherpa is a angle carries the man for hours .
He is a great one.
Nothing short of extraordinary. Bless that Sherpa.
Should have left him for dead. Many blessings to these sherpas for risking their lives for stupid rich people.
the sherpas are the real MVPs of Mt. Everest. unfortunately people who go there to climb think they are accomplishing something, yet for the locals, this is just a walk up a hill. I don’t understand why people still want to summit Everest, since it’s already been so overdone and is now just a frozen garbage pile.
Sherpa is an ethnic group / culture in the Himalayan region of Nepal. Not all Sherpas are guides and not all guides are Sherpa.
Recently i’ve watched a lot about everest and other mountain climbing disasters and i’ve only realized how these sherpas have managed to do more amazing feats than those who got their name recognized for climbing these mountains.. the sherpas are the true climber and what all climbers should seek to be before they even attempt to climb these mountains.. if they’re not as fit as these sherpas, don’t even try.. you’ll only make it harder for other ppl who will have to rescue you later..
Yep. It’s as if climbers should go live with Sherpa’s for a bit for a better and more careful experience.
its insulting to know the amount of what these guys are paid, to do what they do.
There’s controversy in the climbing community because the man he rescued blocked Gelje Sherpa on all social media and went on a media tour without crediting him for saving his life. After being called out, the Malaysian man has unblocked Gelje and thanked him. Gelje was beyond gracious and said he is glad that the man is alive.
@adiirwan it was his sponsor that coaxed him to block and say it.
@iLiterallyJustSaidDont – He’s a grown man, he doesn’t have to do something completely unethical just because someone told him to. The sponsor sponsored an attempt for the summit; not a promise to lie about it.
@iLiterallyJustSaidDont doesn’t matter. Lying is lying.
What a sell out… That’s just pathetic he couldn’t thank the Sherpa.
What a clown really. If I was Malaysian I’d be really embarrassed.
In addition to the sherpa, a big heart from the chinese climber who gave up his ascent.
OMG!! Unbelievable! That is the luckiest climber on earth.
They don’t have quality climber to mount everest Mostly are unfit & disable people. The death body which his teamate is a civil defence force comandant. Strict audition shall be taken from this country. Ramro manche that sherpa make him to become Brahmin.
The Sherpas are the most selfless and courageous men on Earth.
Hope something is done to stop the littering the tourists are leaving behind.
They usually just leave them to die.
What an amazing human being!!!!
frickin studs/real life angels 👼 Sherpa men
Sherpas need MUCH more respect than they currently get! If it wasn’t for them, almost no one would NEVER get to the summit, yet they go unknown.
I just don’t understand why people keep risking their life’s for 2 minutes of “accomplishment”. Props to That Chinese client too…that’s money and might’ve lost his chance at ascending again. Wow!! So many Sherpas have lost their lives trying to rescue climbers, that guy is truly a hero and deserves all the praise. ❤
I agree. It’s total madness. I don’t mind taking a risk but if the death risk of doing it is high then I’d choose low low risk like knitting everytime!!!!.
Much respect and ❤ to the sherpas..the real heros😊.
The real badasses on the mountain are the Sherpa’s, NOT the climbers. Many use no oxygen, show me how many climbers do that? The Sherpa’s must laugh at the idiots that show up to take on Everest.
Thank you Gelje!! I wish the rescuee was more grateful to you.
is this the same climber who blocked the sherpa on social media hahah
Yes. He didn’t want to admit that he didn’t make it down the mountain on his own.
That guy didn’t even thank the sherpas for saving his life. He thanked the sponsors of his expedition. All the best to the sherpas. They’re heroes even though corporations don’t sponsor them.
@Ram Das
Your source is irrelevant to him saving the guy and none of the news sites mentioned anything about the Sherpa being transphobic. But you didn’t bother to read and relied on hearsay + irrelevant sources to form your argument. You’re funny 😆
@Ram Dasyes you’ll do the same like father like son
@Ram DasYou’re trans? Really woulda never guessed. So, how many trans people from Nepal have tried to be Sherpas and have been shut down? What about trans people that have applied to be guides and have been shut down? What, you want them to hire or make an honorary Sherpa out of an unqualified person, trans or otherwise, to represent you? Give me a break. Show some statistics before running your mouth and thinking you are entitled to everything.
@Dvachwhat? Why? They should have left him there to unlive to be honest.
@Ram Das😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you are just trolling
Too bad the guy he saved deserved to die smh!!! Ungrateful ppl!!!!
Should have let him die
Way more respect earned for saving the guy than summiting. Good job chinese client.
Thank you, Sam Porter Bridges.
Whatever he’s getting paid, it’s not enough.
The guy who was rescued thanked only the sponsors for the rescue and not the sherpas,
he should of been used as a sled to slide down the mountain
This Sherpa is a total hero.
And the Climber the luckiest man that climb Mount Everest.
Death stranding vibes
they better be paying his village a million dollars. stop trying to do everything for the gram. y’all obviously not built for it
The Sherpa are a truly incredible people
The rich clients who climb Everest and leave trash everywhere are the polar opposite
What an OG
It’s always amazed me how we celebrate certain folk who climb the mountain. I mean that’s fine and in some cases it is awe inspiring. But the Sherpas kinda get forgotten about. The things they do are superhuman and they quietly get on with it with no fanfare. Legends!
I am going to hire a Sherpa and train him as a boxer, probably the next champion.
Incredible human ❤️ 😢
Idiots getting themselves in trouble then others have to risk their life to rescue. Some situations are meant to be natural selection
The sherpas should of left him
So this is the ungrateful climber 😒
Only psychopaths climb this mountain. Go to therapy instead of fleecing these sherpas.
The sherpas make the climb often yet they’re given very little credit.
I guarantee the Sherpa would always be down to forgo an ascent and save someone’s life, but their clients don’t let them. The Sherpa love that mountain and I’m sure they hate watching idiots die on it, especially now that it’s overpopulated and covered in trash.
Real-life death stranding
What a remarkable man that Sherpa is, and super fit.. he’s hauling another man on his back.. wow
Not actually that hard. Your legs can carry an additional 100 kg easily
Amazing. These Sherpas are Legends.🙌👍👏
Dang. Pay these guys what they deserve.
Sherpas real life x men. Much respect.
Nepal is full of amazing warriors. Sherpas and Ghurkas are top notch. Respect.
after reading the comments, I think that Malaysian climber is a narcissist. He knew he couldn’t climb the mountain and yet he did it for the fame he wished he would get. Pathetic man.
Idiots wasting money and risking their life to climb a mountain
Death stranding
Incredible rescue. Its been the practice to leave those in dire straits f8r obvious reasons. Too many permits equals a lot of dead on the mountain.
It irks me when the people that get rescued off Everest are often the most entitled and ungrateful people.
Kudos, gratitude, admiration, respect & appreciation to heroic “Gelje Sherpa” (AGA Adventures) for his incredible selfless, one-man life saving mission in the death zone on Mt Everest, above the balcony (8,500m +).
Conversely, shame on the ungrateful, pig-ignorant, selfish & simply narcissistic Malaysian climber Mr Ravichandran Tharumalingam who not only failed to thank his saviour but also blocked him on Instagram when this was pointed out to him. @Ravieverest tried to lie about the circumstances & make himself seem less of a useless left for dead failed climber who had to quite literally, be carried down like a cocooned baby!
Not even so much as simple thank you neither bought the heroic Gelje Sherpa a cup of coffee, mug of tea or chocolate bar let alone a gift or compensation for Gelje Sherpa & his client sacrificing their Everest summit to save wretched Ravichandran’s life! Appalling & repugnant behaviour displayed by the self-important vacuous Ravichandran.
It’s no wonder 9/10 mountaineers don’t bother saving their fellow mountaineers in such perilous conditions high up in the low oxygen 8,000+ meter zone. No thanks nor appreciation expressed. Shocking misbehaviour by @ravieverest, do NOT ever use @ravieverest as your Himalayan mountain guide which he claims to be!
Why anyone would still want to climb that mountain is beyond me. It is overcrowded and dangerous. This Sherpa is a true hero and shame on the climber for not crediting his life to him.
Plus there’s poop EVERYWHERE.
Everytime I see the news regarding hiking this mountain, I ask myself why it’s even still legal to do so.
The Sherpa should have left him there
Absolutely amazing he carried a man on his back & saved him & so strong & brave 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
The “death zone” should be could the “stupid zone”. Learn to value life & stay where you belong. So much trash & dead bodies up there. Not cool what humans cause.
Ravierest the man saved finally thanked the sherpa publicly after being piled on online. He will be forgotten. His rescuer, however will not. The man is superhuman. Incredible.
I hope those Sherpas are getting rich for hauling those rich tourist up and down the mountain and putting up with all the nasty garbage and human waste those jerks leave behind. Poop disposal fee – $8,000 usd.
Well said
Yah, as an avid high country hunter/hiker I’d never risk my life to climb a mtn. I’ll do something where if you fail you still live, not., failing means death. Not that amusing to me.
This climber didn’t initially thank him or anything he’s an ungrateful person and maybe shouldn’t have been rescued.
There are truly good and truly amazing people out there!
The sherpas always own that mountain. The best of the best!
Sherpas are the real heroes
Mad respect to that Sherpa
This adventure tourism to Everest has to stop. Why are we putting these sherpas in needless danger just to be able to say ‘I climbed to the top of Everest.’?
Why not use a sled
What a joke.
And yet brags like he did it himself…
Go Gelje Sherpa.
I think it’s time we stopped rich idiots from climbing Everest.
I thought over crowding had been an issue for years. Why would they continue to issue record breaking permits. That is a large number of deaths!!
The country should ban climbing above base camp. Such a useless, egotistical endeavor. Take your own trash down, and pay your Sherpas much more than you all do ! Without them most of you would never make it .
This could of been Paul ice Poseidon denino if he went all the way haha CX
So embarrassing. This fellow Malaysian should have test-climbed Gunung Ledang first.
Wow the Sherpas really put their life on the line. The guy is a piece of trash for not even thanking them.
Death Stranding
150-lb Sherpas carrying a 250-pound fat white guy down the hill to save him kinda sad im sure he’s paying millions for that rescue.
Does anyone know how many Sherpa vs Foreigner deaths have happened?
Superhuman 😮
Fate left him there to die for a reason …
if this became a movie i whoul love to watch
The man should have been left at the summit of the mountain so that he could thank his sponsors and finally, his Creator.
Ungrateful brat doesn’t deserve another chance to be saved.
Respect to that Nepali Sherpa 🙏🏿🤟.
How much is his life worth to him?! He needs to PAY UP!!
Some heroes wear capes, some wear other people like capes while performing even more impressive feats…
He’s walking real fast. Downhill is better than uphill most of the time.
