If you get rid of affirmation action programs. Assign a code instead of name and remove the income on applications as well. There is no justice for those who were murdered in Parkland. And legacy admissions (often based on how much $$$ an applicant’s family has donated, even if the applicant is barely literate) are fine. How are minorities going to qualify for legacy admissions if their parents can’t get in because the race majority is taking all the spots? But no, we’re “all merit-based” now!
Affirmative action was, and still is, an attempt to level the playing field that for well over 100 years insured that minorities had little to no access to the opportunities for advancement that the white majority viewed as their birthright ahead of all others.

The solution to racial inequities in college admissions isn’t to simply let in minority races with lower scores but rather to go to the high school level and see why they can’t get the scores up in high schools with higher minority populations so that the admission is more equitable. Affirmative action was never more than a crude bandaid to the problem. What was always needed was a more surgically viable approach. Hopefully someone in congress sees this and acts accordingly. I have known hiring managers who have been reluctant to hire Black graduates wondering if their degree was based on merit or affirmative action. Some universities not only applied affirmative action to admissions but also to some extent on grading. I know of at least one professor at Harvard who would add a whole point to the grade of any student who belonged to a minority or more accurately he took away one whole point from all white males. I know this because he was a relative of mine and admitted as much. He passed away about ten years ago so I will not name him because he can’t defend himself. In any case, I concur with the supreme court’s decision.
