If Pence had acted like this as VP, he might be president today.
He actually had a hard time coming to the conclusion that he needed to certify the election, and I would speculate that he ultimately chose to do that because he could not win a future presidency without it. I would also speculate that his religious beliefs support the idea that he specifically should be our leader, and that the Trump presidency was a necessary means to an end.
As old as these people are they should know this country has been run by both democrats and republicans. They should know how elections work. It’s crazy how they can be brainwashed this badly.
They are not brainwashed, but eager volunteers, because Trump and others represent actual family members who raised them so they were forced to still become attached to for their development, and so now notice how effortless and practiced it is for them to instinctively defend and support these creatures. He struggled to uphold the Constitution and repeatedly reached out to others to help him to come to that decision, as he was not able to on his own. I would speculate that he has religious reasons to believe that he should be our leader, and finally reached the conclusion that he could not win in the future without that faithful action.

Does VP Kamala Harris have the authority to manipulate the Electoral College Delegate Counts in 2024? Where in the Constitution does the VP have any authority beyond reading off the delegate counts from the states? The Twelfth Amendment provides “The President of the Senate [ie. The VP] shall, in the presence of the Senate and the House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall be counted”. The VP opens and counts, no other authority is provided.

And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse [sic] by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse [sic] the President. I remember October 11 2008 when the late GREAT American War Hero Senator John McCain confronted that lady in the audience telling her what she said about Obama was true. So these lies and conspiracy theories predate Donald Trump. Sadly millions of Americans wanted someone to lie to them so what they felt inside would be true. I remember as a young boy I as a black child was taken in by a white Republican family. They had a daughter in the house and their church friends confronted them about having a black child in the house with their white daughter. Today these people are my family and my sister is now 46 years old and always been my living sister. These are the lies that circulate in white communities all over the United States. I know because I lived in these communities, married a white woman and raised my children in these communities. When my white Brothers and sisters come into town my white neighbors ask questions and I allow my siblings who are all Trump supporters to explain who they are and all of a sudden over night I am Ok. I guess I needed my white siblings to give me the stamp of approval from my Republican white neighbors. By the way. I am not either Democrat or Republican I refer to myself as an American. Mike Pence did *not* have authority *under the Constitution* to send votes back to the states. He absolutely *did* have the authority to do it *under the Electoral Count Act* . Pence must think that no one has heard of Wikipedia, to think he can get away with playing these word games.
Back in the run-up to the counting of the votes on January 6, Pence claimed he did not have authority to send the votes back under the Electoral Count Act. If that was true, then why did the Democrat-controlled Congress suddenly amend the Electoral Count Act last year? They specifically amended it to strip away the vice president’s power to send dueling slates of electors back. That actually happened.

The 1876 presidential election between Rutherford B. Hayes and Samuel Tilden was contested. There was widespread suspected voter fraud in multiple states. All of those states sent dueling slates of Republican and Democrat electors to Congress for the certification of the election. Nobody knew what to do, because the Constitution doesn’t mention what to do in the case of widespread voter fraud. Congress was deadlocked for weeks trying to decide who was supposed to be the new president. It was a hot mess, but eventually Hayes was declared the winner by one electoral vote.
In response to that contested election, Congress passed the Electoral Count Act in 1887. This act specifically gave the vice president the authority to send contested elector slates back to the states, so that the individual states can sort everything out. That can be done by holding recounts, audits or even do-over elections, especially if the voters had no confidence in the outcome of a race.
Mike Pence did not have the authority “under the Constitution” to do that. He had the authority to do it under the Electoral Count Act.
