Unfortunately democracy does not work in very poor countries, such as Afghanistan, Niger, etc. it’s time we we recognize that and let them have an authoritative regime that can force peace, and curb corruption. You sacrifice freedom but you get security and instability, which is the only way to get a poor country out of poverty. Unfortunately using democracy does not help get an unstable country out of poverty
Having said that, we need to work with these governments to make sure we can at least influence them to make better decisions for their citizens. For example, in Afghanistan we need to use the power of our aid to make sure they allow women to get education and work.
