From his point of view he indicated that the prior grain deal did not support drought striken African countries but rather advanced nations. A significant percentage of Ukrainian grain was being sold to European countries (reportedly for commercial livestock feed) while a very small portion (said to be less than 5%) went to the needy countries at the same time when his country’s agricultural bank and exports were being sanctioned so he basically called it a sham.
His giving the grain so he can’t be accused of not being considerate of the drought striken nations plight by putting an end to the deal.
He does have a point, though I feel sad for the Ukrainian people who’ve suffered so much.
