As the Maui community begins to process the deadly wildfires, at least three lawsuits have been filed against Hawaiian Electric, alleging that turning off power lines would have saved lives. The CEO says they are still looking at all the information. NBC News’ Tom Llamas reports.

“Turn off the power” , typical. You turn off power people will scream. That’s a fact. Turn off power, then the water pump stations go down, so, no pressure on water lines to fight the fires. To stop this, don’t build back electrical grid to area so IF there is another fire and 100mph winds, no problem. My heart breaks for these people, but electric grid is not the problem

Big respect for the guy who did all he could protecting his dog. I remember reading about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina & all the abandoned dogs they found floating. Anyone who consciously made that choice didn’t deserve to make it out themselves. If me and my dog were on the roof of a building and a rescue boat came but wouldn’t let my dog on I’d have told them to give me some food & water if they had any & to come back when they’re willing to take both of us
